A large number of FO's are getting a lot of standby which suggests that they are a little over crewed. Not surprising considering the winter on top of the recession.
They were going to start again in November but they have just deleted the online applications to start fresh so I assume that they might start looking in the next quarter. They will always need capt's though, seems like everyone is needing the commanders at the moment.

I was also under the impression that with some new aircraft orders scheduled for the summer that they might be hiring a few FO's externally?
EZY have just posted 32% increase in revenue, and one would hope that Flybe might post similar - fingers crossed at least

Flybe Q400
Well crewed for F/Os at present, remember as aircraft are being delivered,
E145 aircraft are being retired. Q400 TR courses still running mainly for DEC and E145 crews. I believe the few new F/Os are from the Flybe mentored schemes only.
DECs still required for Q400 although from what I hear plenty of applications for those seats. Captains still working harder than F/Os at some bases.
Most if not all of E145 conversions onto Dash will be finished by mid year 09. Very few retirements at present as you can expect.
Maybe recruitment will open in next few months keep an eye out and make sure you can at least meet the minimum requirements.

I believe Flybe are still operating around 7 of the original 28 E145s. They are based at both MAN and BHX. Of the 28 12 were leased and 16 owned by BACON then Flybe. I personally think Flybe Management played a blinder and promptly sold all 16 E145s within a few months (oil prices had still not hit there high then) they were then leased back. Excellent business sense and timing I feel now the E145s would be very difficult to offload.
Whilst down in EXT in Dec I chatted to an Athens Airways crew picking up one of the E145s so I guess a few are going there. Some have already gone to the Ukraine.

Any chance some could be heading to bmi regional as mentioned above?? I'm guessing some of the remaining 7 will be looking for a happy home in the coming months?
This is highly speculative, but perhaps the rumours of flybe taking over bmi regional sprouted because of talks between the companies about these available 145's?
Not that I have a personal interest in this....

I personally feel that BMIr could operate in the future as a Lufthansa regional airline. I also think there is some truth in talks between the two companies (Flybe and BMIr) but it is more likely to be about movement of E145s than a company takeover.
So yes I agree with your assessment however I wouldn't think BMIr would rush into recruitment at present. My feeling is that regional operators flying short Northern European sectors can still operate just as efficiently with lower crewing levels and in the current climate this would make good business sense.
Keep the hours ticking over to meet future recruitment requirements guys things will change. Flybe themselves by Q4 2009 will be operating 14 E195 and 60 Q400 so keep an eye on the website for applications to fill TR courses beginning round Aug/Sep.

A friend of mine is in the pool and he received an email last week basically stating there is no recruitment, so no dates yet, or soon.
Personally I can't see any recruitment (F/O) until things start moving again. Look at it logically, we are slightly overcrewed with f/os, no other airline is recruiting, and if they are (Thomas Cook) they want type rated bods only, so the chances of any F/Os moving on are quite slim for a good while.
My personal opinion is that there will be very little, if any recruitment by the end of the summer, and with the pool holding a few pilots I can't see much from outside this. All recruitment from flightdeck to office staff has to go through a board of approval.

out of the recent intake for FO's, the split has been either low houred integrated straight from school (oxford and jerez seem popular) or guys with good twin commercial experience (typically over 500hours twin turbine). they tend not to recruit 200 hour modular guys or ex instructors. this isn't a flybe fact, it's just my observation. take it or leave it

Sorry guys but I think some answers on here are rubbish.
Flybe do not discriminate against modular students so long as you meet the criteria they ask for. It makes no difference but you must meet the minimum requirements.
Flight instructors are just as welcome always have been always will be.
Minimum requirements usually a CPL/IR which must be current, also require 50 hrs flying in the last 12 months. With that in mind a FI rating might just help.
Flybe have some low hours guys on courses at the moment but I stress these are low numbers ones and twos at most. Many if not are from the Flybe mentored schemes.
As for the hold pool see some of my previous posts. I guess by the time the last E145 pilots are rated to the Dash mid summer, I think Flybe will look at the requirements. Expect some hold pool movement Sept onwards DECs may go first or guys with hrs.
That's it from almost the horses mouth...
Want a Flybe question answered PM me and I will do my best to answer it warts and all. If I can't answer I will find a man who can.
