What a great shame HKG was my home then for over 30 years. Kids born, bred and educated there. They’ve even been taught not to use Y’all. And I don’t look down on locals. Far from it. However just take a look at Asian airlines that are localised. With the exception of SQ (with a ready supply of ex military pilots ) they’re usually a

disagree. JAL/ ANA excellent. CAAC airline safety record over the last ten years is better than FAA airlines. The last mainland airline crash was what, 2002?

I would imagine the US has more daily aircraft movements than the rest of the world combined.
That is probably why they have a higher accident rate.
