Another missed opportunity...

Photos: Boeing 777-FFT Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

Would have been the first CPA 777F, but instead went to Air China Cargo. After all, they operate an old inefficient fleet of 747-400 freighters and having a hard time making that operation profitable.

Wait, what?

I think you will find there are many amongst us who are glad the 777F didn't come!...besides, it may not be doing well but I highly doubt our cargo department is making a loss right now.

Didn't some cargo guru say: "there's no money in freight?"

That is a pretty stupid way to look at it (although I would not be surprised to have a group of pilots that think that way).

I can't see why anyone would want less aircraft, even if they are freighters. More aircraft equals more upgrades. There are no more freighter only upgrades, so having a few 777Fs would not make the QOL that bad on the 777.

I don't care if Cathay buys Cessna 152s - if it means growth and upgrades, I glad welcome it.

I opened up this thread thinking it was referring to our lame duck committee's decision not to enforce CC

We all want more aircraft but they don't have to be in the form of 777F, right? 777F is not the only freighter option.

Absolutely. No tie zone crossings, all short haul. We only have one pay scale that does not differentiate between types. So yes, I, along with most other crew, would take a caravan captain slot for the same pay as a 747 or A330 captain, with all the added benefits.

You wouldn't?

I think S7700 is either winding everyone up or overestimating people's desire for a command slot. The pay doesn't exactly shoot up. Would people give up their current lifestyles to fly a cessna around the place? Very few I would suggest.

That's just because they afraid they'd have to actually fly an aircraft, with their hands and all.
...Which apparently none of us can do anymore.

That's right pilotchute! None of us have ever done anything like that. No Harriers over the Falkans, no 9G rate fights, no 48 ship pushes into hostile airspace, no three wires in the middle of the night onto a rocking carrier, no bush flying in the Arctic, and no babysitting right-seat Top Guns like yourself with "several hundred" bugsmasher hours. Nope, yours would be a bigger challenge than any of us can fathom.

Get real...

Pilotchute,
Never attack the CX ego's, as you have just been told, they invented flying.

Cxorcist,

I have taken my post down because it seems to have offended you. My post was meant more to be a joke and to get a response on the lighter side than the one you gave.

I'm happy that you invented flying so what do you want? A medal or a chest to pin it on?

I was never offended nor did I claim to have invented flying. I was trained just like everyone else at CX. In fact, not "inventing" stuff is something I do take pride in. Not everyone at CX shares this trait unfortunately.

Too bad you took your post down, pilotchute. I was hoping to reread it to ensure my sarcasm filter had not missed anything. Your post read serious to me the first two times. If I missed something, I'm sorry if I offended you.

Please understand that we (CX) are flying with a lot of hundred hour seat warmers these days. While that works fine on 99% or more of our flights, it makes JFO training quite a chore and has the potential to create problems when things do go wrong and time critical crew action is required.
