Hmm, avoid flying over thunderstorms. Probably a good idea regardless of airplane huh?
The AD will require operators to circumnavigate yellow to red intensity TS cells. No big deal as the ride over these types of cells is often uncomfortable anyway.

Billy do you currently avoid all amber and red radar returns by 50nms?
I was merely pointing out that I don't think it's a big enough reason for people to cancel or not order 8i's.
"Flight is prohibited within 50NM of amber or red radar returns that are displayed below the airplane's flight path"

Terrain ?

Terrain ?
The Collins Multiscan radar references the terrain database to remove terrain returns from the display ( for the most part ) in auto mode. So unless there's what it considers relevant weather ahead you see a blank screen.
You will paint terrain returns in manual mode though, so Wx deviation is still going to need some SA and common sense. I get the impression that, as you would expect, a lot of this procedure is to cover Boeing and GE's 6 as much as to keep the crew out of trouble! If/when there is another 'drama' it'll be the crews fault, as usual!
