Post CX-What now?

I recently saw that AOA members voted to step up the industrial action but all has been quiet since then. What now? I've recently attended an initial interview but have no intention of going any further with the process until the lifting of the recruitment ban, so am quite keen to see this whole thing resolved.

Hard choice, but a smart one. Hang tight, it won't be long now, and the respect you get from your soon-to-be-colleagues in CX will be overwhelming.

If there were more people like you and fewer "ironbutt57's" and "411A's" this thing would have been over a long time ago.

Thanks from all of us.

You sound like a true union brother Kubota....blame others, even tho they have nothing to do with your sad pathtic situation, for your own collective stupid mistakes. Well done!

Better that (a true union brother) than a F@*&8ng scab, 411A. But don't take Kubota's reference to your handle too personally - I believe he is referring your "intellectual" properties rather than your professioal or physical attributes.

Hopefully this dispute won't drag too far into the new year before it is resolved, and the CX pilots will see their conditions restored, together with a modest salary increase that will put them far ahead of what you were on, 411A.
Shame you aren't just 10 years younger to enjoy these worldwide salary restructurings!

Red face

actually kubota

1) if currently employed f.o.'s stayed away from commands just as they are asking newhires to stay away..things might have moved on a bit...at least your credibility would be a bit stronger

2) it does appear to us outsiders a bit hypocritical

3) in any event, how am i to blame, seeing as how i myself wouldn't consider jumping into that fiasco down there, irrespective of some toothless ban imposed by IFALPA..if the company is willing to treat 20+ year employees in such a manner, why would anybody think it wou't happen to them at a later date...this reason alone is a more compelling reason to avoid employment at cx, as opposed to some silly "ban"

4) this is a discussion forum...opinions different than your and mine both are bound to be posted here.... how has any discussion here had any effect on the situation at cx? none for sure...have a nice day

Kubota and Kaptin M, lets at least give credit where it's due....IB57's enforced exile has obviously changed him for the better compared with 3 years ago, its just a pity that 411a isn't taking his thorazine and lithium often enough, probably due to his inability to force his saurian views of management of even US pilots.....

Now what's going on? A guy I know who'd already been told(before the ban) that his application was successful, resigned from his present country, now on Friday he received a letter saying that his application was successful, congrats and all that but that they don't have a position for him now?!That it was his problem that he'd resigned after being told he was in!!So it seems management is now stopping recruitment as well? But then why are they continuing other 1st round interviews. Although those who recently attended 1st interviews keep being put off about what happens next. Sounds like there definately is something afoot in the recruitment department as well.

Hey BM, last weekly updae from the Mill owners stated that there was a recruitment freeze in all departments of the airline, I am not sure if this factors into FLT OPS as well. It may have been areas like Planning, stores, accounting etc.

Think of it as a good sign from above, you can sit in the hold pool, wait for the AOA to fix this mess and enter without crossing an IFALPA Ban and have a better and more secure career.

PS for the guys that have heard about CX Major expansion, I have been hearing that Rumor since 1996, but then again we are starting service to Rihyad, Saudi Arbia next month!

Question

Anyone have any idea how long this industrial action is going to last( at the moment it seems as if it'll be a drawn out affair)I've been invited for a second interview and while I've no intention of breaking the ban, I'm wondering what is the best option at the moment. Go for the second interview and then hope that, if I am successful, it'll all be over should an offer of employment come. Or do I put off the second interview until it's all over. Difficult decision. Also a bit confusing why Cathay is still interviewing when guys who have been through the whole process successfully are being told there's no positions at the moment, as mentioned earlier. Any ideas, suggestions?

Cool

Dear BMM389EC,

I suggest you just go for the interview, try your best, see yourself the situation in HKG, talk to people while you are there, get the offer letter and evaluate the terms & conditions given. After weighing the pros and cons, you decide yourself whether or not to accept the offer. That is the best way rather than you keep listening to others.

If you ask anybody from AOA, they will say "NO"

If you ask non-union souls, they will say "YES"

Do you want your future and life to be determined by others? Pilot is special because he can make a wise decision when needed even under tremendous pressure !!!! So be the one............

Regards

Question

Has ANYBODY down there in the union investigated the legalities/ramifications of new hires signing on, then refusing to appear for training? Probably not possible, due to the quasi-legal status of the job action being conducted...it worked for the folks at United in 1985....another win-win option, if it is indeed legally possible...the newhires get their jobs, and the union in turn protects those jobs when the newhires decline to appear for training until the dispute is resolved...

Not to poke fingers at anyone, but why are there so many upgrades from SO to FO going on?? There seems to be quite a number to jet training in Adelaide.

Seems like CX is upgrading lots of pilots right now....quite rushed.

...perhaps to fill some odd..say 51 slots....

That's why current S/O interviewee's are being told there are no course dates until the new year - C & T is very busy. Besides the usual recurrency training load, a ton of upgrades and newhires.
