i got the "application on hold" too.
SOOOOOOOOO SAD!!
anyway,
i accidentally forwarded the email back to them with a private message for a friend.
OMG. are they going to delete my file because of that?!
i am so upset and exasperated with myself now.
did i just lower my already pathetic chance??!

So, would we be right to assume that most, if not all of those who made it to any of the final interview in late November or December this year have been put on hold?
And that now they are informing people in the interviews that they wouldn't be joining until around March 2008?
If they are 'full' or unable to keep up with their own recruitment schedule, why are they continuing to fly to a new country every few days to interviews hundreds of applicants? It doesn't seem to make much sense... Am I missing something?

Hi everyone!
As I read the recent posts, I saw that some applications were on hold. I am now worried with my application. I already received the "happy to inform you" e-mail last 20/11/2007... but, im still processing my police clearance. Maybe, they will also hold my application..

I really dont understand their method of recruiting, cos there was a guy, who attended the assesment day on 10th of nov and he's leaving to AUH next week
So it seems some of us have luck, some of us suck
But anyway, i wouldn't worry if i knew for sure that i got hired and could start in March. so i can plan... but now how could i plan? i dont even know if i am in or not...
sorry i didnt want to be negative

EY screening day
I have several questions for those who attended Etihad Assessment Day and who made it until final interview:
1) How many group activities were you supposed to do?
2) What was the English test like? What was the topic for the essay?
3) What item did you choose and why when they tell you during interviews to choose one? (bottle of water, mobile, newspaper,....etc.)
4) Are they also holding written psychometric tests at the end of the day?

Midadi
Hi Midadi,
This is what i found from Alina, she wrote down everything whats important about the assesment day.
I had exactly the same in Budapest, so this can be useful for you.
"We started the day at 8.30 AM. First thing - the reach test! You take your shoes off and you get in line and you have to touch a line drawn on the wall! After touching the line you get a number! With your papers you go to the ETIHAD lady and you give her your CV and she writes your number! From that point on you become the number that is sticked on your chest!!!
After that you are presented a video clip about ETIHAD, you are explained aboaut life in ABU DHABI, what you are allowed and what you are not allowed to do there!
You take the English test, a 6 parts test that you have to complete in 20 minutes. Until someone from the recruitment firm verified our tests, the 2 ladies from ETIHAD called us to one-on-one interviews! There was a short interview, with a few questions, like: Why do you want to work for us? Why do you want to be a flight attendant? how do you feel about moving to ABU DHABI? Choose an object from the ones below- a water bottle, an empty glass, a newspaper, a mobile... Why did you choose it?
And now comes the first REVIEW - they tell you now if you go away or you can stay and participate at the rest of the tests!
After the first girls are leaving, you take lunch, payed by them!
Then you start the next round - you get a subject and you have to talk about that for 1 minute!
After this you are separated in 2 groups and you get the bunker test - there are 11 survivors( a pregnant women, a teenager, a physician, a scientist....), you have to choose 3 people to send in to the bunker and motivate why! This is a group activity!!! MY advise to you is: DON'T GET TO INVOLVED IN THE DISCUSSIONS FROM THIS ACTIVITY! state your opinion but don't be to insistent about it!!! I think that this was my mistake, I talked to much during this group activity!!!!
After this, there is another review - they tell you who goes away and who stays!!! from what I understood, there is another interview one-on-one, and then you go home! you are not told if your going in ABU DHABI! You have to wait to receive via email a security clearance and the medicals that you have to do! that means that you're going!
They don't tell you anything, why they didn't like you!
The second review was at 5 PM! ! You will be very tired and at some point you want them to come to tell you that you are going home, because is exhausting!!!
If you are called to go, don't think it will be in the next few days! They told us that we will be called in march next year!!!"
But to answer your questions:
1. we had only one group discussion
2. the english test was okay, not so difficult, some grammer (but very basic), "filling the gaps", text comprehension, etc., at the end we had to compose a short letter to a friend, writing a few sentences about the city where we live, what we do..etc.. very easy! But the time is quiet short, so you have to do it relatively fast.
3. I chose the bottle of water (which is the good answer!) and said something like that: it's a basic element, can be life saving..etc.
4. i dont know exactly what psychometric test is, but we didn't have any of that.
The final interview at the very end took about 15 mins, they kept asking about different situations, how would you react to those. For example, what would you do if you accidentally pour wine on a passangers' lap.
All in all, it was not that hard, just be yourself and try to be very friendly with them.

2) They give 20mins for the English test. It's a breeze, basic comprehension only
3) I chose water, because I was actually dehydrated from the coffee I had at tea break!
4) No... They might be looking at other things whilst you give your answer e.g. posture, tone and what have you, but that's all

They pschometric assessment is part of Emirates selection procedure at the end of the Open day or Assessment day! You get 250 questions about your personality and you have to answer only with yes or no!!!!! I hate this one!!!!

Hi to you all...
having read all your postings in on this homepage, I would like to ask you some questions about emirates and Etihad, if you don't mind...
I'm really interested in working for the airlines, but I also have ckecked the requirements for the cabin crew.
Unfortunately I am only 1,54 m, what I would like to know is....do girls like me have ever a chance to establish themselves? Or do the cabin crew only have members with min. 212 cm arm reach? Because I can remember that I saw a cabin crew memeber here in Duesseldorf who was almost equally tall and chubby like me...Does Emirates or Etihad make any exceptions? Or should I give up this dream...what I really do not like to, I would give almost everything to join a job at CC!
Your answer is really really appreciated!!!
Thank You very much and take care on your flights

I would recommend that you fill out the application forms online for both of the airlines and if they ask for your height, I would suggest you put the minimum as set in their criteria. If then you are invited to the Assessment Day, you will be required to conduct the reach test, if you pass the reach test, there is no reason why they will not pick you as the reach test is what is important to them. If you do not pass the reach test then atleast you would have tried it and would know. Good Luck...
