Jessmin,

I believe people from ODs in early May have just been contacted by EK, that is 5 weeks since the interview. I recieved an email from HR because I was missing the casual photos from the OD (May 30th). They told me the ones I sent were OK and that now is just a matter of 2 more weeks for them to process before I hear back from them. From the OD I attended, only 7 of us made it to the final interview. I stayed in touch with one of them and he hasnt been contacted neither. So, be patiente
____________________________________________________________ ___
Tytus82,

Here is the information they gave us during the OD regarding salary (you do the math):

Pay Scale Grade II: Basic Mothly Salary USD1,000
Flying Pay: USD14,15 (per hour) paid between chocks off and chocks on
Flying Hours: 70-80 per month
Layover Expenses: meal allowances are paid in the currency of the country of night stop. Transp and accom provided by EK.

Hope this info answers your question.

3 months too young

I was at an open day last weekend and they said that the people turning 21 soon could stay for the selection process. hope it's the same for your open day. either way, go to the open day and meet the other people. at least you'll know what to expect the next time.

Thanks Steegily!

Thank you for your answer. I feel relieved.
Now I will definately attend that Open Day. You are right, even if they send me home, I will know what to expect the next time.
How did the Open Day work out for you?
Thanks again!

Geeshh Tytus92! (no need to be rude) I was just trying to help. Sorry I couldnt give you an exact answer.

In "practice" you wont be flying always the same routes, therefore your allowance wont be the same every month. Some people spend it all, some people manage to save some money...it depends. As far as the base salary and the hourly pay, that's set by EK.

Perhaps you should post your question in the EK Employee thread and they might be able to give you a more accurate answer.

Tytus, what Flyrules wrote is how it is pretty much and yes it really depends on how much you fly and what kind of flights. If you fly a new york trip whick is like 14 hours flying time you will get 49 Dirhams per hour from the time the plane leaves the gate until the engines are off at jfk. You are not paid for the rest of the time, like reporting for duty almost 3 hours before a flight and getting back a.s.o

So that gives you flying pay for that day about 680 Dirhams. But you could also fly a Tehran turnaround which is only a couple of hours but still spend an entire day away because of transport time, briefing, preparing the plane, ground stop period before the plane takes off again, so you will earn 200 dihrams only.

So one month you can be lucky and only have long flights, the next only turnarounds and no allowence money because you don't stay in hotels.

The money you are paid depends on the standard of living in that country and how high the prices are, like you would be getting a lot more in Nice, France then in Jakarta, indonesia! Getting 100 Euros is a good allowence, and you'll get that often.

Your basic is 3600 dihrams but you are also deducted 300 dihrams each month from your salary the first year, this is insurance to EK in case you leave or do something, steel from apartments a.s.o It is paid back to you if you stay 3 years, then you will also be getting a pretty big bonus. You pay 30 dihrams a month to be a member of the EK clinic, but this is nothing because all the services are then "free" for you! You can always call them!

On a crappy month you can earn 5000 dihrams, on a good you can earn 8000. So somewhere in beteween here is what you should expect
But once your grade gets higher and you start working in business you get paid much more and business crew also fly a hell of a lot more as well so you'll earn lots. First class crew don't fly that much again.

Every year you get paid a bonus from the company if they make profit(something EK always have and your salary will most likely increase each year.

Hope this helps Have a nice summer day

hey Yungg, there's no open day in hong kong. I am a malaysian living in hkg. i went back to Kuala lumpur to attend interview. you can go to any cities. given you lived in taiwan, you might want to check out your neighbour countries like japan or korea. or you can check out emirates career website they will tell you open days in all cities in the world. good luck

Kimberlyk!
Emirates don't pay for your nails and hair to be done, and there is no rule about eyebrows being a particular shade either. Just don't look like crap
The only "rule" there is is for your hair to look natural with not any obvious crazy highlights or a massive after growth As long as it suits you, that's all theyu care about Etc if you are black and have dyed your hair blond, that's not accepted if ya know what I mean

Your nails can be french manicured, clear or with red polish. Lips red or redbrown lipstick.

Queries on vaccination.

Is that necessary that we have to do all vaccination as stated in the medical checkup form? for example polio, Diphtheria, tetanus, thphoid, hepatitis A and B, MMR...it's so many and is that necessary to complete all before sending back to Emirates?hope someone would able to clear my doubts.many Thx.

Jessmin, don't worry...I'm sure good news is coming soon!!
