weight?
Thanks tsteddy2004,
Yeah, you are right...if you want something so badly, you'd do anything for that. Since Japan is the nearest country to me (still a 8 hours flight, haha!) , I'll consider to fly there for the assessment if I'm lucky enough to be invited...I better start saving for the trip!
Well, another thing is...I'm way underweight (163cm/40kg)...I'm one of those lucky gurls that can't gain weight no matter how much I try to eat...but I'm worried about this now because I read somewhere that EK might think that you're incapable to work long hours and can't lift those lugguges if you are way underweight. ..but I'm totally healthy...

Open Day - South America
I would like somebody to give an advice about the OD. I´ve been in three ODs and I have not been chosen for the next round of interviews. I do not know what they look for when they are recruiting, I´ve been fliying for 9 years, I´m 29 years old and I do not know if I am to old for them or I have previous flying experience. I am going to attend to my fourth OD next may 26th and I would appreciate any good advice about it, How do I act in the group discussions, I dont want to be a leader but I am not going to be shy either.
looking forward of hearing from you soon!

Hi Guys,
I'm new here
well i recently applied for a job with Emirates, made all the screening process's and the final interview and just found out last week that i was unsuccesful. If i would like to reapply with Emirates i have to wait 12 months..
i felt really confident that i got the job, im everything that i thought they were looking for, it really felt great.......
im dissapointed though! life goes on!! im busy putting my applications in to other alternative airlines... Im thinking of Etihad... i think there is an opening day in BNE on the 14th....
Anyone going to that?
and please if anyone has a story similar to mine, i would love to hear about it...
I beleive that everything happens for a reason, maybe i wasnt meant to get this job and maybe next time will be different.....

well...I didn't manage to get very far either....anyway, I think you do need to try to show that you are interested in meeting people, just try to chat with people if u can, but remeber don't say anything negative about EK or other company. Smile a lot!!
If you are not confident speaking english in front of a group....try to work on it...also i was amazed that so many people were eliminated after the english tests.
Last but not least, watch your body language!! e.g don't cross your arms or legs..and try to lean forward a bit during the group dicussion to show that u are interested in that....do try to contribute to the discussion, but not to overtake...too bossy is not good either!!
I think your age is close to the limit, but u should be ok...and I feel they like people who has previous experience, most people who has previous experience as a CC managed to get through. Good luck!!

Second Phase
Hello!!!
I´m new here...
So, I`ve just passed in the first interwiew...I´m worring about, because I can undertand everthing in english, but i can not write easily.
Could you tell me anything to make me more confortable?
And, some hints or advices for this round, - the dynamic?
I´m studying hard, and improving myself.
What they want?
I´m Brazilian, so you know who we are, our culture...speakers, and I´m afraid of that.
regards

guillemd80,
Yes...just try to relax and smile, even if it is hard. They want people who are confident, as u are a CC..u should know that all pax will look upon you if anything happens. Good luck! Try to apply online as well, because there will be a lot less people if you go to an assessment day rather than an open day.
Buena suerte!
adios!

Hello everyone!
I'm also new here as i had no idea that ek crew had a forum...which i find pretty cool actually.I worked for ek for about 4 years passed SFS and then well i chose to leave DXB to move on to other directions..i've got great memories from Dubai and Emirates itself.Needless to say that it is a really good and unforgettable experience!it's been 2 years and half now that i left but i'm still in touch with friends that i met in DXB.For those who the adventure is about to begin, enjoy it as much as you can! It's a lot of work though...the 5 weeks training are quite exhausting but once you've done them..the real adventure starts...working with different nationalities is interesting but can be sometimes difficult. There are som many things to say regarding life in Dubai and being EK CC...
Always keep in mind that time flies when you're over there...being in Dubai isn't for the rest of your life...
Take care and Be safe!

i recieved a 'soft contract' with EK stating that my starting date would be the 1st of june.... i told them i need 1 months notice for my employer. havent heard anything. then i emailed them saying 'what the?' and they said they were missing part of my medical (which they had confirmed they had all of it 2 weeks before), and now im waiting again!!
i obviously wont be starting 1st of june, but cant handle the torture!!

I am to leave 1st June and I just received the final approval two days ago. I posted a complaint here about the whole point of asking us for resignation notice period and then taking their own sweet time regardless? It is weird. I sent in my medicals on the 3rd April and immediately called to check if they received. I got an email saying they did, and will check through. FIVE grand weeks later I got an email (after I called them) saying my form is incomplete because one box wasn't checked. I had to visit the same doctor to get it filled, then send again.
I stated on several ocassions I need two months' notice preferably as I need to sort out stuff (I am self-employed). But as the date drew closer I took the risk and as early as April I started preparing my clients telling them I'm leaving.
What I can see is, they're now looking at your files and they realised your joining date is coming up. From here on they will process your medicals pretty quickly (quite unheard of coming from EK heh). If you can't shorten your notice period with your employer then you'll have to request for a later departure date. Oh man, we could be in the same training batch!
