I suppose anything is possible, QF could just employ language speakers and thats true with Carmen being based in Perth is not an issue, a quick look at their bid package shows that they come through the east coast and do most regional patterns anyway. Always happy to answer any questions the best I can.

When casuals were first introduced into our EBA through MAM the FAAA did mention a cap, however it was never signed off then FWA was introduced and the rest is history meaning there is no cap on the number of casuals that can be employed within short haul.

Gigs

That sounds about right and the company will ask short haul crew again and again to take leave without pay and temp part-time like they have a couple of days ago and employ another 500 to cover the flying.

ages ago on a crew bus someone said that Contract C was only for 11months and they would have to sign a new 11month contract. is that true? or totally made up cos its an ongoing contract? how do these rumours start!? how funny. contract C was a rumour once haha

um yah i have met ex JQ ppl who are Casuals now. stafftravel isnt always what its seen to be. its great when it works, but i reckon if you travel a lot, a round the world ticket is great value. maybe that is part of the reason for moving over for them. the difference between getting a roster written for you full of JQ 4Legs, and one written for you with Dom and Intl nights away, tax free DTA.... it all depends on what you want from flying.

JQ to MAM

There have been a few crew that have gone to MAM from JQ.

Most JQ crew who have been there for years are happy being employed Full time, sick leave, annual leave and full staff travel benefits and being home with family and loved ones each night.

At the end of the day its Overnights/Casual employment OR NO/little overnights and Full Time employment.

JQ has just bought 9 new planes for domestic operation so JQ is a good place to be in relation to Job security and the benefits of being a full time employee in the Airline industry.

I guess its down to Personal choice. If I was Young and Single and didn't have a mortgage I would be lining up to join MAM.

where to start ???

Im a MAM casual myself and to all the MAMers out there, dont get too excited about this whole "NEW" recuitment crap via QF... :

THEORY NUMBER 1:
I firmly believe that that has got all to do ( OR AT LEAST PART OF IT ) with the fact that the LH EBA runs out in nov (?). Weve all heard of "Strike Work Force"....( any bells???).
Train the "new recruits" ovenight to fly the 747's and off u go.. no promisses in the end;

THEORY NUMBER 2: ( which I think is most likely the reason behind ).
They want to give us ( the casual MOB ) the impression that FT positions would happen... reason, and the only reason: to STOP the ammount of casuals that are walking out of the door.
""MY GOD !!! they r gonna offer FT positions again... Lets ALL stick to it ! Lets ALL be good and NOT CALL IN SICK ( because they look at ait !!!! ); Lets ALL work our arses off ( MAX availability !!! ), lets this and that ....

They cant just keep up with it ! They have been recruiting lately like being a FA is going out of fashion.... Are they predicting something HUGE ???

Well lets all wait and see whats to come. I think in the next 18mths to 2 years some huge changes are gonna happen... if we can all afford to sit and wait ....

OOps, I got to go and complete/send my "MAM FA APPLICATION FORM ".....
after all. like evrybody else : " WE HAVENT GOT ANYTHING TO LOOSE ".

No way.

We have been told there are only a handfull of FULLTIME JQ ground schools coming thru, and by leaving JQ you would be kissing your permanent job in the indistry good bye.

Us in SYD have heard short haul INTL for S/H crew, Fiji is on the cards by the sound of it.

Casual... silly... Especially seeing as we just bought 9 more A320/321 a/c, and opening a PER base at the end/start of next year. Casuals eventually will begin to loose hours, therefore money! :S

Bla Bla - You are all employed as 'casual ' . So why the complaining about casual hours ?

A ' casual ' job anywhere else doesn't earn $700 after tax a fortnight !!

Exclamation Qf Skywalker

Actually, the new casuals are not casual. They are given 20 days of work each month. They give 20 days of their lives to qf. And the argument in fact is, how some casuals get increasingly high hours and some not. QFS, if you are a qf cc you should be a little worried because crewing are blocking these so called casuals upto 25 days of work and 150 hours. Guess what is in the next S/H EBA....

To say we are employed as casual is a joke...Contract C that is... Its all very one sided. A casual employee should have alot more choice and flexability, a pay off for being casual, however on c contract its just like a full time job with no benifits of full time employment. I flew with a BNE girl yesterday who told me 42 c contracts have resigned in BNE since c contracts were employed.. Anyone know if thats true..seems like alot!!

About overnights...here in Perth about 6-10 per month, a girlfriend is going on a 5day trip today. Always about 100hrs..
