Sarah,
So did you get the job with British Airways? I was going to apply to them, but what put me off was the whole thing about having some sort of qualification ie nursing etc? What did you put for this? Also what did you put for the schooling results? they call it the GSCE's or something, correct me if i'mwrong, what is that equivalient to in Australia?
Any info is appreciated? How much was the pay, is it something you'd only just get by on?
thanks!

Emirates interview Amsterdam
Hi people,
The following happened to me:
About 6 weeks ago I went to the Open House Interview in Amsterdam. The next day I passed the interview sessions and finally I was invited for a final interview 2 days later.
However, after the phychological test, one of the interviewers told me that I was not allowed to wear my glasses while working in cabin and that I had to wear contacts. For this reason I withdrew myself from the final interview. I told them that I first would like to test contact lenses during my current job as f/a, and that I would rather re-apply again 6 months later, so to be sure that this wouldn't be a problem. (I was really afraid that wearing lenses during the first flights may not be a success and that I might lose my job at Emirates then).
But I wish I wouldn't have been so careful!!! Today I got a letter that if I would like, I can re-apply again after ONE YEAR. I'm really crying now, what have I done wrong? What should I do now? Should I still try again in LHR within about 6-7 months?
I really feel sad, cause I got so far. Snik, snik.......where's my handkerchief....
Anyway, good luck for everyone with their application. I will keep my fingers crossed to all of you!!!

So they were not making problem when attending interview with glasses on? I was invited on an interview on 25th but still don't know if I should wear them or not. It's not that I'm blind or anything, just think they go better with that suite and tie... Still not sure...

flying swan,
sorry to hear you story, as I was thinking of reapplying in the near future, my six months are almost over.
I have a question for you:
how many people were at the open day in amsterdam? I am trying to figure out to which openday there is the less crowded here in Europe.

I think the GSCEs are the equivalent of a NSW year 10 School Certificate (year twelve being the final year). Generally aimed at 16 year olds. Am sure WA has similar.
Some British people may be able to confirm.

Mashco,
About 10 people were invited for a final interview. I was the only one wearing glasses, so personally I think this should not be a problem at all. (I even had given them a passphoto and a full-length photo with also my glasses on).
Please dress yourself very professional, I think this is more important to the interviewers! Just like you, glasses suit me much better and I think it even helped me feeling much more myself...
Success with you interview, let me know how it was.
Gege,
On the Open Day I guess about 150 people, I am not sure, but I came 1,5 hour earlier and just 30 minutes later a big crowd came in with long long queues......

Singapore Open House was indeed disorganised!!! It was a huge turnout. About 600 plus ppl!!! Anyway, I was lucky to complete everything by noon.
By the way, can anyone share his/her experience with us? Due to the unexpected turnout, they only collected our resume, make us to a English test and then followed by height & weight taking and asked us to wait for reply. However, some were asked to come back the next day for the above process. So, how do Emirates carry on after this exercise? How long then they will call us? Will they send us 'try again next time' reply if we are selected for the next interview stage?

I wonder why Emirates pretened to be so suprised about the huge turn outs at these open days, when it ALWAYS happens!?!?! They really should be prepaired and not waste everyones time!

My ref no was below 200 but the interviewers apologised that they have mixed up with the registration and thus there were ppl with 2 digit references in my group.
One question - My last unsucessful interview was in Jun03. Does anyone out there has any idea if I am bind by the 'apply after 6mths' ruling?

Wintertale,
Looks like that u still have to follow the 6 mths rule coz i did try to update within 6mths,but EK HR wont even take a glance, I did call up but was told i was within 6 mths therefore unable to try for the next interview..I was also at the Jun 03 interview, now waiting for the 6mths to past...

Hiya fellas.
I guess we all did the same test for the Open Day in Singapore. They will get back to us in 4-6wks time. I reckon they will not email all 600+ applicants. So, if we don't hear from them within those times then I guess We can try ALL OVER again.

I forgot my password, check ur PM.
Btw, I wonder what is considered the RIGHT applicant for the job ?
Cheers,

Question
Hey Babyblue
Congratulations on getting a preliminary interview with EK on the 30th of November. Just wanted to ask if you applied On-Line or did you attend the Open Day and submit your resume (hence they just got back to you now??)
The reason I ask is because usually a couple of months after Open Days they return and interview people from all the resumes they collected. We just had the Open Day here in Melbourne and all they did was collect resumes to be sorted in Dubai and select people for Preliminary.
Thanks in advance for any info, and remember there is heaps of info on the forum about the Prelim INterview...
Cheers

Age Limit For Emirates Crew ?
Hi Everyone!
Finally decided to register as I also want to be a flight attendant with Emirates. Also wanted to comment on how great everyone is about helping each other out with all the questions! What a awesome group of people you are. Here are my questions
A couple of my girlfiends went to the open days in London and asked the recruiter about a age limit and was told "we don't have a age limit except in some countries ". What does this mean ?
Can someone, preferably someone who is a flight attendant with Emirates tell me if there are people in their 30's working in Emirates right now?
I do know that you have to be at least 21 to start.
My friends were also told that they even hire married people ,true?
Any answer will be greatly appreciated.
Good luck to all those who are going for any upcoming interviews.
Thanks!

Age limit
Hiya CG,
They do have an age limit but only countries which allow them to. i.e. United Arab Emirates. In the UK, Australia, USA and Canada they would not be allowed to specify an age.
Good luck.
