To be honest with you...don't keep your hopes up and look somewhere else.

WW wants to lay ppl off (only voluntary redundment is in the air so far) so I personally don't think we will start recruiting very soon.

On the other hand, though, there's not such a company in the world which is as unpredictable as BA. So it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens.

Good luck anyway.

I interviewed yesterday (bloody awful it was too...) and was told that the final crew interviews for this year are next week. Apparently, hiring will resume in the spring, around March/April time.

Interestingly, all knowledge of secondment to LGW WW was denied, even though I have two colleagues that are starting on LHR EF seconded to LGW WW two weeks from now...

They have sent all the people to LGW that they needed so that perhaps is the reason why they will not try and get peoples hopes up by suggesting that it could happen when the likely hood is that it wont!

Type1, if you only been waiting for 3 weeks then you might be in for a long waiting. I waited two an half months till I got a training date.

Hey Silvia,

I'm definitely all about BA CC too, so many positive posts about them! I've been scouting around using all the searches that I can and I've unearthed two possible recruitment times thus
far. The first being the New Year and the second being Spring (March/April), though these are rumours from people already in the CC game and not as such concrete facts. Still hope this helps at least a little… if I get hold of someone at BA in the know, I'll try and let you know too.

Regards

Oli

Cannot comment on the recruit periods but there is capital sanctiions for 750-1000 entrants by summer 06. This number will have to be doubled anyway to accomodate projected start up flights in November 06 when several 747/777 commence. In addition there is sanction for about 400 ramp agents and 200 plus customer agents. A lot of people route thru CA's.

Post BA Maths results

Hi. Just wondering what the story is with BA's insistence in seeing original school certs (or cert copies) with GCSE in maths. I head that they had dropped the maths requirement but English still stands. Anyone know? I know of a lot of crew that didn't have maths, but still got it anyway as English was good. Hear that need another 120 at LGW WW.

With 14,000 cabin crew, business doing well, retirements, pregnancies, injuries, new entrants not gelling with the job (rare), etc........recruitment will be on and off, so keep your eyes peeled. Best of luck to anyone applying!

BA interviews for older applicants

Hi, can anyone help?
I flew with BA in the past and am now thinking of re-applying. Is there anyone out there who has applied recently who, like me, is a more mature applicant? I wonder how successful you have been. Is the interview a full day? Do you have the medical before you start training; this was the case when I first flew. I would appreciate some information. Many thanks

hi aberlin...the assessment lasts for 4 hours only and you take part in a group activity (very friendly) and a personal 2-1 interview (can be quite intense at times but the interviewers are very nice and account for nerves!)

You don't have a medical as such but you do have to complete a medical questionaire and they will acquire a copy of your medical records before they offer you a training date.

As for being 'mature', i really don't think this matters as BA employ people up to the age of 54 i think, although can't personally comment on this

Hope this helps a little...and get that application filled in!

MK 124, sorry to trouble you again! Thanks for your previous information; just clarifying the medical questionnaire. When you say that BA will 'acquire medical records', are you saying they want the lot? I am asking this as a 50 year old who by now, has quite an enormous medical record, from childbirth etc., to everyday niggles. What is the format, therefore? If you can throw any light on this, I would be grateful. I have no problems, but I would hate to think they would want to see EVERYTHING I have ever visited the doc for, know what I mean?!! Thanks again.

Hi aberlin, The questionaire is fairly simple, you just get asked a number of questions like
1) have you ever suffered from back trouble, stiff joints
2) Have you ever left any job on health grounds
3)Do you use medication on aregular basis
4) do you suffer from heart conditions, diabetes, etc
5) Do you/have you suffered from anxiety....etc, etc

It's just your average health questionaire really and you just have to tick boxes 'yes' or 'no'.If you answer yes then you have to provide them with a little more detail about the situation.

Actually my previous post was a little inaccurate as i've just been reading the questionaire and it says that "it may be necessary to contact" your GP to obtain your medical files, but it doesn't say under what circumstances they would deem it necessary. However they need your consent and you are allowed to see your medical files before it is passed on to BA's health services if you prefer.

Hope this helps, if you need any more info just let me know

xx
