Hi everyone, this is all new to me, I stumbled across this forum surfing the net in a desperate attempt to find others in a similar position to myself. I also recently attended (2 weeks ago actually) an assessment centre, panel interview and have had my references checked...........still waiting hence the name.

I have been a bit lost as to why I have not had a "yes" or "no' response since I was told after the panel interview I would hear from them in 3 days. But after reading through this forum i'm not suprised!!!

Unlike you midnight_63 I did not get any forms for a security check to fill out. They told me that would be "stage 3" along with a medical.

If anyone out there could tell me if they have heard of anyone completing the panel interview and hearing a response yes or no that would be great, i'm going insane!! this is my 5th time applying to QF and if you ask me the whole recruitment process is completey vague. But in saying that if I don't get thru i'll keep trying and trying until i do, they are not going to get the better of me.

hey mocha_swirl have you heard anything yet? (this is weird i feel like i know you all)

PS- cart_tart love your work regarding chinup, couldn't have put it better myself!!

waiting_game,

Tell me about it! I am going crazy as well.... I think since they told me that I should hear back from them in 3 days, I have been looking at my mobile phone once every hour during business hours... no exaggeration!!

I still haven't herd anything since panal interview... and this is the 3rd week, next Monday will be the 4th!

Did you go for the language speakers interview? or was it just English speaking?

Anyway, best of luck!

Tell me when you hear back!

MochaSwirl,

I feel your pain, i'd be seriously pulling my hair out by week 4!!!!!!

I'm just hoping no news (at the moment) is good news but who knows??? we may never hear from them again (surely not though even if people were unsuccessful they would still have to be notified........wouldn't they???)

Anyway best of luck to you and too everyone else out there STILL WAITING!!!

Let me know if you hear.

Ps - i'm not a language speaker and i'm also convinced they have lost my application or someone has forgotton to email me.

Cloud Nine and Cart_Tart

Thank-you for your responses. It is just so harsh the way everyone on that short list has been treated.

If I was you cloud nine I would just hold out for progression the rumour going around is more at the end of this year.

Are perth potentials ever going to get a look in? Seems to me that to have even been given a chance at an assessment day you are all very lucky! Good luck to all that have applied! Just wish I could be on the receiving end of a QF letter for once

perth interview

hey has anyone else from perth received an invite for a QF longhaul assessment day 23rd august?
I had a msg on my home phone that Qantas had sent me an email a few days ago (which is news to me cos I didn't get any email!!!) and they basically wanted to know whether or not I was attending......
I am unable to but I wouldn't be interested either as its only contract work.
Good luck to anyone who goes!!!

the long wait

seems some ppl have had a long day with all the tests, group discussions & panel.......yet i doubt very much QF would hire somebody based on what an independant ( adecco for e.g ) sees in one day. I know they mentioned it, but I'm sure an interview ( at least a panel ) is necessary.

Some ppl have heard after 3 days, some not for over 3 weeks, guess different cities get processed differently. Melb ( the one I was in ) processed all security papers and customs identification, with our signature in preparation for a quick training program, one would imagine. Yet these docs were not collected by other cities, so hard to figure all this out.

The wait continues.....

2weeks after I received the letter, I got an e-mail and phonex2 to ask me to come to the interview (for 10months maxium) as if nothing ever happenend before.
If I ever happened to make it to last stage again, i would probably still waiting for their call by now....
I had enought of waiting for thier call...

QF have NO RESPECT AT ALL!! Sprits of Australia??
You are right!!

This is only my opinion... Good luck to all!!

Its disgraceful the way QF treat people during the recruitment process.

People should be writting to the papers and current affairs programs detailing how they have been treated by 'The Spirit Of Australia'

Guess what? It doesn't get any better when you start working for them. The lies and propaganda machine is switched on and in full steam 24 x 7 at QF.

Melbourne Interview....

Hey All,

Well I attended the Melbourne Assessment today and it was your standard Airline Assessment day, ie... activities, presentations, written assessment and psychological testing (actually maybe a little more involved)...... The diversity of the people present was amazing, as chinup said in a previous post I would assume that they have contacted their entire database, as many of the people on the day applied 2-3 years ago and have never updated their details since, yet they were still contacted.

The assessment day is not conducted by Qantas, I believe it's a contracted recruitment company which is assisting Qantas (Adecco). Not much at all was mentioned about how many people, starting dates, next stage etc... All we were told was that it was an 11 month fixed term contract and after that no further information has been provided.

We have been told that we need to wait approx. 2 weeks to hear back in a form of an email. One would assume that the next stage is a panel interview.

Anyway, goodluck to those attending in Brisbane and Perth. Today was the final day for Melbourne interview, and I believe Sydney is already over.

Keep me posted on any development....

Cheers

Hi!

Heard a rumour there will be 50 people coming into Perth on 14 month contracts and no job at the end??? Does anyone know more about the Perth positions? I was told by someone in management that it is to just replenish the shortlist, but i presume then these people will be offered a fixed term contract? Good luck to anyone who gets in, just enjoy it and have fun!

Yes, No discrimination.... The Equal Opportunity Act of Australia, would only be set for Australia, not Australasia.

Many airlines in Asia recruiting, go to all of their web-sites and apply.

The way Qantas is going, it won't be long until they want to set up bases in Kuala Lumpur, China or even Afghanistan, to keep expenses low and profits high.

Anyone been hearing back incidentally from the respective assessment centres in Melbourne, it is now over 2 weeks for some.?

I have heard that around 20-30 people will be required for Perth Short Haul once you guys get the airbus and start flying to Asia. The rumour over here is that this will be made up of a mix of MAM's converted to permanent, regional progression (another 5 for Perth started ground school yesterday in Melbourne) and more MAM casuals. A lot of the original MAM casuals based in the eastern states are hoping for a permanent position in Perth. This is the current rumour going around, they need to get the crew from somewhere though to operate the Airbus.
