cabin secure - Just to let you know I have helped many wannabe's on this forum with info and been super supportive to many crew now flying. I will not however help or be supportive to this "chinnup" fly by night operator - his comments towards long time ppruners are totally out of line and deserve the response he has received from a few of us. I am sure you would only be just as supportive to other DJ crew copping grief from people who know nothing.

Chinnup- I guess this means you will be leaving pprune now. It has been our pleasure having you on here.Good Luck in all that you do. I am sure EK can beat the rest of the bullcrap you speak out of you. Good Luck - FAREWELL.

GOODBYE.

Left 2...you probably need to get a grip! "It is now safe to assume that QF plan to use them as strikebreakers".
Any new cabin crew have the exact same rights as you do to join the Union. You know full well that right is inalienable.
Give these kids the same break that you got when you started...and don't make stupid assumptions.

jamesaust,

on the contrary. Perhaps it is yourself who ought to get a grip. On the English language perhaps for a start.

"It is now safe to assume that QF plan to use them as strikebreakers".

The above quote uses the word "plan" and indicates what I believe to be QFs "intention".

What contractors DECIDE [ie they have a choice] to do once industrial action commences is entirely up to them.

If you cant see that I support the FAAAs push to block the London base and prevent the contractors being let go in favour of cheaper offshore labour then I cant help you.

L2P

Oh BTW, welcome to pprune and Qantas.
Maintain the passion exhibited in your first post and spread the word amongst the new recruits.
We are going to need all hands on deck come years end.

ChinDown!!!!!!!!!!!

Chinup....

Congratulations on your Emirates job!!!!!!!!!! However I thought you said in a previous post that Qantas was the first interview you had ever attended as a Flight Attendant, and then all of a sudden you are accepted into EK.... No need to explain yourself to me as your posts explain themselves.... Seriously, you should really put your time to better use...

As for "signing contracts on the dotted line and not worrying about it", such advice is absurd, why would anyone ever sign a contract without looking into it....

Have fun in Dubai, which by the way is in the Middle East, just in case you are thinking it's Dublin....

Dear Chinup

I find it odd that EK is calling at 0100 to inform you of being accepted into their training course. As per the internal EK website which I have access to as my flatmate works for EK, it states that "Hiring and training of Cabin Crew are on hold between AUG04 and MAR05 due to severe overstaffing and current Cabin Crew flying low time." NO and I repeat NO new recruits are being hired at this time.

Open interview schedules previously announced will procceed as planned to keep a roster of acceptable candidates once hiring recommences but no second interviews or offers of employment will be made until after MAR05.

Based on the above, I find it questionable that EK is doing any actual hiring or notificatioin at this time. According to my flatmate who is ground staff with EK but works directly with the layover Cabin Crew, nothing to date has changed. I wouldn't hold my breath for the e-mail mentioned to be arriving anytime soon.

I would have also assumed that the "e-mail" being sent would have already arrived to you before you posting your last message as they would be standard e-mails containing information and with attached forms that should have been sent with a touch of a button upon completion of the telephone conversation with the applicant.

I would hate to make a judgement on anybody that I don't know, so all I will say is that if you did receive a phone call at 0100 in the morning advising you of being accepted to EK, I would check with some of my close friends to make sure a joke isn't being played on you.

It appears that only lucky people get job with Emirates. I understand that it is a nice airline and expanding rapidly.

Good luck to those that got into EK and I wish all the best for those that applied.

I meet all the criteria so you know how the wait can be. Does anyone know anything about interviews in Perth?
They have a sign on the CC Base door saying "Qantas Interviews Upstairs Level 3" - or something like that....

A question - wouldn't mind CCing for a living, (but as am "young" may just run screaming down the aisle at sight of suspicious shoe box... ) Though I have dealt with situations like being personally attacked by a drunk man, security threats in store, etc etc

Have had plenty of retail/food&bev experience, senior first aid etc etc. Does anyone know if any Link or Ground staff will be striking in support of Long Haul???

I ask because I'd like to know if QF will be hiring for any of these positions as well.

just not sure if they would hire me as I'm 21, and in some people's eyes not enough "Life Experience".... ideally would love to do Casual Flying in betwen my other jobs, a couple days a week would be great.....

As for all the bitching, grow up people, everyone's entitled to their own opinion (or to look like an idiot )

TIA for any (helpful) info...!

too much back stabbing

thx for the well wishes done via PM but why hide!!!!! just say what u want via this forum, although to many pps delight I won't view too many times longer due to EK

No not just lucky ppl get into EK, I still have not got into EK until I have signed the contract, I have been accepted but I am on hold so u guys are right in one way but give me a break I never said I was starting 2m.

Social Flyer, I did say way back that I never had applied to the airlines, I meant in OZ, I went for EK in Manchester, months ago, was given, due to unusual circumstance i could not go, they wanted me in a training centre PRONTO, so I had to decline, then I called Dubai they did not want a bar of it until I was on a flight and guess who sits behind me Director of HR for EK, I told him the prob and then EK got back to me, but it is too late now I missed the surge and so I did receive the e-mail but it is a generated one, so to all of those losers knocking me. Go and knock off

I will prob get QF too, u wait and see

Asta la vista

Angry fixed term

Hello, virgin chatter,

Question:
What qantas looking for?

I am an experienced cabin crew looking for work and I didn't get hired. I can't understand QF logic. I collegue of mine who was sacked for getting drunk on board, abusing passengers, trying to open a door got hired. What are the HR guys doing? Are hopefuls supposed to take the recruitment serious?
My ego really needed this position!!!!! Won't someone notice me!!!!
Any hints for next time???

Dear Chinup....

Sounds like you've been lucky enough to travel in First Class on EK and enjoy their fantastic service. With a bit of luck you'll be serving the Director of HR on one of his next trips up in F/C (Director level have confirmed F/C travel on EK). What an opportunity to have him sitting behind you and striking up a conversation. He must have been very impressed. Most F/C travellers keep to themselves and do little chatting with their fellow passengers and considering that he was staff travelling and revealing that he worked for the airline to boot while the others in F/C paid a fortune to be up there. Very lucky indeed.

Good luck with both QF and EK and you may want to brush up on your Spanish lessons before using the language in print.

Asta = To spear
La= the
vista= sight

Maybe you meant "Hasta la vista" which means until we next see each other?

Angry hasta asta what the dif?

How ignorant of me no I don't speak Spanish I thought it was Italian...there u go

No we were not on an EK flight, I was lucky enough to upgrade using freq flyer miles and he was travelling from a convention telling other recruiters on how to get good employees ( that is what he told me anyways ) I have been F/C a few times and normaly ppl up front don't speak but one of the CC dropped the O.J I think it was and I helped, later we introduced ourselves, he was unreal, still did not get me a confirmed position though.....BUGGER

Has anyone worked for EK, had probs then moved over to QF???? If I get the QF one I won't know what to do. I know about this contract talk etc.... rumours, inside info, I just don't know, I won't start with EK until mid next year

Midnight-63

Was the paperwork for a security check? I received a call yesterday too and they asked if i had sent in my security forms. I sent them 2 weeks ago via express post. I told them I could send them again or drop them off but they said not to worry they would try to locate them and if they couldn't find them they would give me a call.
