Language speakers

Hi Lady Luck..

I am one of the language speakers who went for an interview.
I think this particular thread are for the interviews conducted after the language speakers interview.

I went thru the 1st, 2nd and 3rd interviews and still waiting for a "yes" or "no"

Its been 2 weeks already, so im not too sure what is happening...

Did anyone else go for the language interviews? Have you had an answer yet?

Midnight

Stage 2 is the assessment day of large group broken into like 5/6 groups of 4/5 on a table with one assessor rotated aprx three times, so is very fair.
several group exercises and a 2 pg written customer service questionaire re- a difficult customer what would you do?

You should be notified of your status by e-mail aprx 2-4 days after.

Stage 3 is panel interview with two QF cabin crew, questions are very full on and you need to have a clear head on the day.
They require, eg of a situation from experience, like when was the last time you were able to provide outstanding customer service, What role were you in, what did you do and what was the out come.
Must be answered in the order asked or you stuff up their recording of your answer.
Then a hogan personality test... mine suggested an over active sex drive.
(AS far as I got this year).

You should receive an e-mail re- your status in aprx 4-7 days.
medical invitation is next at a CASA approved Dr.

Entire process is very professional and fair unlike some others!!!!

Reply Midnight

You got it luv!

Mocha... Buzzi Lizzi is bizzi doing EP's so will not be online for a bit.
Just e-mail them and wait two days for a reply, if nothing call.
Sometimes things can get miss layed or stuffed up.
I once had my application lost for Ansett international by the agency and missed out on the entire recruitment as I waited over a month before I mentioned it.

Hi Fourplay,

Thanks for ur reply!

I can't find their email address anywhere! The email that they used to send the invitation to me initially says that "PLEASE NOTE: [email protected] is an unattended mailbox. We will not reply to any e-mails sent to this address."

So just ring?!

Sorry, so many questions!

Thanks!

Hi Mocha!!!

I think you should definately call to enquire, i did and i think it was a good move, because when i got the call for the job coming up 6 months ago, the lady who called asked me if i was the guy who had been calling them over a period of 3 weeks enquiring???? So I obviously stuck in the minds, either for being really keen or just plain annoying, but in the end i got the job, so without another thought, call them and ask, i was exactly the same as you! Just express to them how keen you are!!!

Oz

ps-pm me for contact details

Qantas Long haul...

Hi Guys,

Would anyone know how long the assessment center for Long Haul Flight Attendants lasts? My invitation states:

"Please be prepared to spend a full day with us"

Is there elimination through out the day? I have an interview next week and need to make arrangements for the day off work.

Regards

re:QF assessment centre

hi guys, new to this thought i'd post to tell u a couple of things.
QF assessment centre, their is no knock out so to say ( elimination ), prepare for the whole day as we were there until mid afternoon.
Quite stressful if you don't like public speaking and gawking eyes on your every move. Lots of people did not show up, as far as i can tell, either people could not act upon QF's 2-3 day notice.....understandably of course. Few walked out having been told the contracts were terribly short.

As for stages 1, 2, 3, 4 5 etc....... this stage things seems to be a Cabin Crew ego thingy, i got to stage 2, I got to stage 4 etc.... everyone was talking about stages and I'm sure the recruiters are sick and tired of what people come up with.

Some people advance earlier than others, some are held, some they need to check over and over again.... so many people applying, sooo many scenarios, you must understand this.

re: person that asked about stage 2 being the assessment drive etc... this is basically step 1, ignore the real step 1 which is being chosen, because QF is in such a desperste stage to recruit, they have just about contacted their entire data-base of hopefuls. rememeber around 70% of people do not show up.

I'm not going to say what went on and I don't think other people should either, that prepares them for something that could easily change overnight, we don't know what is set out everyday and if you prepare for one thing and something else is proposed, you will be presented a dilemma. If you are wanting to go for Cabin Crew, you need to thing quickly, intelligently, and logically. What is the logic in being told the answers to the test.

Sorry I'm being so harsh here guys, but study hard, and if you need the answers from other people, u r not ready and u perhaps should not apply.

Good luck everyone, this forum is however a great support mechanism and suggestion corner.

Good luck to you all!

Social Flyer

You are asking the forum a question that has been clearly highlighted in your letter

"Please be prepared to spend a full day with us"

This could not be any clearer. You should be prepared to spend a full day with them, not half a day, nor 1/2 an hour!

If you can\'t understand a clear e-mail from them, how are you going to handle the 5 weeks intense training?

I\'m not being picky, but you must be much more independant.

I have a few friends that were on the short list and who received the e-mail only recently dropping them, however they were under the impression they would be invited back when QF next recruits which appears to be now. So I asked a few people in the know (well they think they are, so I thought it couldnt hurt) anyway they told me that all the people dropped from the short list will not be invited for an interview, the disucssion or lack there of ended at that point very quickly.

So was wondering has anyone that was on the dreaded short list been invited back for the current round of interviews?

I can also confirm that a lot of applicants are not even showing up to interviews and quite a few are actually leaving before the day is even over as mentioned by Chinup. QF have been really surprised by these turn of events and it appears some people within that area are quite offended by the attitude of some applicants, which makes me laugh considering the way they treat applicants, the short list was a perfect example.

I'm not sure where you get off passing judgment on people you dont even know!!!! As a matter of fact I have passed Cabin Crew training in the past and with outstanding results. This forum is about asking questions, even those which may appear to be simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Independance, once again how do you define independance, the fact that I asked a question shows no independance?????... Feel free to keep all your experiences to yourself, we probably would be better off without them. This forum is about being a team and sharing throught and opinions which are "positive'. As for your comment on people "not being ready and shouldnt apply" perhaps you are afraid of a little competition and trying to throw of others????

You appear to have only registered in 'August" which is an indication of your total inexperience in the point of Prune... Goodluck in your career, and I hope we dont cross paths!!!!

GalleyHag...

My understanding was that I was going to be called back when QF recruited again. Thats what the email stated that was forwarded to me a few months ago advising that my waitlist had expired.
To be honest...I wouldn't go back for another round of interviews if they rolled out the red carpet and carried me there!
Happy where I am right now....permanent employment....
However, I wish all those that do apply and are succesful, the very best of luck. I honestly hope that you will be treated differently than some of us that were on the last short list.

Chinup

Thats a bit harsh towards Socialflyer.....

Good Luck!

Hi scarletlucy,

I tried to ring as suggested, however switchboard did not put me thru. I kinda expected it.... with the amount of applicants they were seeing, if everyone called, i'd doubt if they get any work done in a day!!

I'll keep waiting... I just hope they haven't misplaced my stuff and forgotten about me!!

Good luck to you and everyone else...!

QF assessment centre etc..

Cloud Nine... perhaps I was harsh, but I said that in my post, I have observed the forum for sometime and if their was a simple question I'd research it and get the answers myself.

Social Flyer.... good luck.... but if you can't take a negative comment directed at you.......a change in attitude is in order perhaps.

Galley Hag...Yes, that sure is unfair of QF to do this to you, a full time secure position is always handy but if it is your dream to be a galley hag, just persist. This is all new to me, 1st application, however their was one guy that had been 4 times, and that is only for QF been to other airlines. He was a lovely chap, I think QF needs the numbers, he has obviously matured and has a good chance. Sometimes the absolute desire for something outweighs the absolute knowledge of something. My analysis for e.g of Social Flyer... she had that desire long time ago, but lacks that now..... again Soc Flyer will start getting bitter at me, but nonetheless it is true. I have seen it over and over and over at interviews all over the world in many industries. Desire shines through in your eyes.

To all of you........Ever felt the time when you smile and are forced to be happy because your folks friends are coming over for dinner, yet, deep down you were tired, had an exam the next day, was feeling ill, well of course you did not want to be there in the moment and your eyes would not have glittered so to say.

So try and get the eyes to shine, and you will blitz the assessment centres, panel interviews and 1-1 interviews.

Good luck

oops sorry I meant to direct a couple of things to Cloud 9 rather than Galley hag re the full time employment.....new to this as I mentioned.

Nothing at all to do with "desire" for myself, and other employees of the QF Group that were on the last shortlist.

As mentioned prior on Prune,we were told that we can not apply for any position that is on a contract basis! Once again, as covered in other posts, this was not stated to us at the interviews or at anytime that we were on hold.

Angel

Lied to by QF once again.
I didn't receive any notice that they are recruiting, nor have I been invited to apply again. Like Cloudy, I wouldn't attend either! Why waste my time, effort and money again like I did last time!

Chinup,
With a smarty pants bossy attitude like yours you will never make it as a member of a cabin crew team! You don't sound like a team player at all and that is a big part of what this job is all about! Personally I'd hate to have someone like you as a member of my team! One of the first rules is help out your fellow crew!! Before you have a go at me with "what would you know?" I am already cabin crew with a Qantas subsidiary and have been for a good number of years now! You've only tried for a QF cabin crew position ONCE! AND you claim to be an expert on the subject. Good on you mate! Many people on these forums have tried many more times than just ONCE! First time for everything, but don't come out acting like an expert on the subject when you obviously haven't a clue what you're talking about. I'd like to see how you handle 5 weeks of intensive training. You'll be the real know-it-all-but-really-knows-nothing! REAL cabin crew that frequent this forum invite anyone to ask us ANY question, no matter how silly it may be!
Oh and if anyone would like to know what goes on in the QF interviews and what sort of questions they ask you, please feel free to PM me. I'm more than happy to share with everyone.

Oh and one more thing chin up....perhaps you should look at your usage of the word their!
Their is an adjective and is the possessive form of they.
There - can be used as an adverb, eg I wouldn't go there again
a pronoun eg there must be another exit on this aircraft
a noun eg from there we went on to timbuktu.
English lesson over for the day.

Not worth it!

Chinup,

Social Flyer... she had that desire long time ago, but lacks that now
It's funny how for someone who has only just joined you have sooo much knowledge about my desires and attempts to become Cabin Crew. You would not have the faintest idea bout MY desires. Furthermore, my attitude is fine!!!

I will not post a negative response, because it just aint worth it. However I do ask that you stop posting negative comments about me and focus on the real subject at issue.

On a final note, I suspect you have disguised yourself with a "new" username to avoid being noticed. Quite sad really!!!

Good Day!

sorry to those I have offended

Truely sorry to all I have offended!!

Grammar/spelling is not my forte cart tart, u got me THERE

midnight 63.... u summed it up nicely, that is exactly how it went in Melbourne, their was mention that certain stages were being by-passed and done all in one day. That is why security and customs forms needed to be signed straight away in preparation for training coming very soon.

I don't try and be a know it all, perhaps some people are a little too sensitive to hear reality.

It is my first time and if I was to be successful, fantastic, if not fantastic, life is great, I don't hold all my ehhs in one basket.

No Social Flyer this is my first time signing up, I have been looking though before at posts.

Let's be friends, again I'm sorry if I have offended.

Good luck

Chin Up

eggs I mean, damn computer!
