heey! Im in the same boat too, I had a phone call to say GS is aiming to be end of March then got an email to say that I’m on hold again. I rang to see what was up and they said it’s the industry and changes happen all the time and will contact me as soon as they know GS dates. I am from Warrnambool and moving to Melbourne, as my partner lives in Melbourne and I’m like ahhhh. I need 2 weeks notice for work and she told me they try give out as much notice as they can
Out of curiosity when did they call you and let know that there was a March GS?
Its been crickets at my end despite internal application and a “successful” email!

Unfortunately the serious issues in China won’t help those waiting. Already 11 flights per week between Australia and China cancelled. If the world economy slows, aviation slows.

yeah that’s actually what I was thinking aswell plus they also probably don’t want to risk having ground school with this virus going around

Please don’t expect a nice notice period, they will literally give you 3 days notice before you start ground school if they need to. It’s very common. Not to freak you out but it’s just the way they work, I guess the theory is that if you panic and say no they’ll just get the next person in line.
Some people are lucky and get a week notice but it’s usually a last minute arrangement. I’ve heard from many people of being sent their contract on a Friday, flown to another city on Sunday to start ground school on a Monday! That’s the nature of aviation though I guess, always changing
Dreamergirl, so nice to hear from somebody in the exact same boat as me! (with City base)
Omg I know! I’m so curious as to how many of us there is as well!! And yeah I feel like surely they’d give us at least 2-3 weeks notice but I have a gut feeling they’re gonna contact us around March for some reason, so maybe only book your trip a week or so in advance just in case so you don’t lose money? 😟 it’s soo stressful not knowing 😭

Thats exactly what happened to me over 10 years ago when I first got the job with QCCA, called Friday afternoon, to start Monday

Medical
Hi All,
Anyone know how quickly they pass on your medical results. Did the medical on Monday and now wondering how long it takes for results. Wow that medical is so different to other medicals I can hardly walk two days later...
Thanks in advance

Melbourne base
Hi everyone.
I was just wondering if anybody else on here has been on hold for Melbourne base since the assessment day in May last year and if anyone has had an update on potential ground schools for Melbourne base?
Thank you! 😊

Medical
HI Sparrow- for the medical you have to first of all do a urine and breath test... Then a hearing test and a vision test. After that we went into the gym and I had to do 15 push ups, 15 sit ups, squats and squats on one leg, lifting weights.. Lifting a bag filled with weights to shoulders. Also was supposed to lift weights (think it was 26kg's? above my head but I couldn't do it. Planks and side planks. After that you have to do a 3 minute step test while wearing a heart rate monitor. All up took about 45 minutes. The physio was lovely and it reminded me of doing a personal training session ")
Good luck.
Good luck.
