@ Elina
Can anyone tell me where they can put smokers? is there special accomodation or we can be put even in 21st Century?
Actually is not about the building. They accommodate smokers only with other smokers in the same room. Make sure you've checked the "smoker" option in your application/accommodation forms.
Good luck and be well Elina

Short sleeve pictures?
Hello All! I just had my full length pictures done, but I didn't wear a jacket! Everything else was spot on (knee length dress, background, grooming, etc), but I'd read somewhere that full arms should be showing which at the time made sense to me...
As in - elimination of tattoos, scars, disproportionate shape, etc.
Now I see that a jacket is suggested and I feel like kicking myself in the head for not wearing a jacket! Do you think this is going to be a big problem? Any of you have gone through the assessment days and interviews having submitted short-sleeve shirt pictures? Aaaargghgh!!

Malgonika Those pictures may be ok for the Open Day and Asessment stage, so I would say that if you like them, keep them until they ask you for new ones (this may happen if you reach FI)... this in case getting new ones now is expensive for you.
If they're not expensive and you want to get new ones, then do it.

Assessment Day in Bucharest - June
Hey ppruners!!
Today I went to a Final Interview Session in Bucharest, Romania.
Unfortunately I didnt attend (because I still have a 6 month conviction to complete ) hehehe
From what Ive learned, in the first assessment day there was an attendance of almost 75 applicants (seems like everybody here in Romania took a vacation because in february there was an attendance of over 300 applicants in 4 cities , for the first assessment day)
The tests were the same: reach test, group discussion (about making some decisions regarding 11 guests in a hotel and how to solve their complaints and in what order) , english test, psychological test (170 questions online in 25-40 minutes)
The next day today on the FI there were about 30 applicants.
The questions asked by the Recruitment Team were like usual: 80-90% concentrated on work related issues ( how do you handle delicate situations with your boss, colleagues, clients, etc)
There were also questions regarding your choices in life, motives for joining EK/cabin crew.
Good luck with your interviews ppruners
Be well

English test
Hello!
I attended the AD hold in Bucharest on June 1 and unfortunatelly I failed. I think I know the reason also...
There was a writting test in english. We were told we have 15 minutes to finish it. In the first part, there was a story (like one page) and some questions about it (like which of the following is suitable for a title of the story, which of the following is the synonim for X word etc). In the second part it was an essay about an important personal accomplish( we had to write one page).
I started with the essay and after 10 minutes or so, the recruiter told us to prepare to finish, and I hadn`t red the story! so I completed the exercises randomly and in that moment I was sure I will fail
After this was a group discussion in which we had to speak to our colleague and find out things about him/her and then stand up and tell the group. The recruiter was also asking extra questions. I was asked if I think that my colleague is suitable for this position. Other ones were asked questions like ~which one of the two of you I should choose for this position?~, ~ tell me the tallest building in Dubai~, ~tell me 3 important buildings from Dubai~, ~why do you want to be a cabin crew?~, ~what do you know about Dubai?~ etc.
I didn`t loose hope yet and I will reapply for the next session. I will try to manage better the time by wearing a watch( which i didn`t have at this time) and I hope I will be more relaxed, because I was sooo nervous
Wish me luck guys!

Hi all!
I went to my FI on 22 May... They told us the wait will be up to 3 months to hear back as they are super busy and the training school is full until September at the moment... Crazy!
Anyone had any status changes yet?!

Hello Wotagemm
I've attended FI on 1.May in Poland. The recruiters told me that they will call/ write us till 6 weeks, so they should contact us in the next week...but I know they can have now a lot of applicants, and probably it can be up to 3 monts, as you said Wotagemm
How many of you are asked to go for a FI? In Cracow there were 21 people
But look - better to know the positive answer later that negative sooner:P
I got an information that I could be bone marrow donor and now I'm waiting for an information about the compliance

So what EK are looking for...
Hello All,
I attended an Open Day in Essex, United Kingdom on the 9th June. Interestingly, due to low numbers of attendees (40), they have turned it into an Assessment Day! I don't think anybody was ready for it, but here is what happened:
Firstly, they showed us some video clips about Emirates, life in Dubai, interviews with the current crew. There were some presentations about what the work is like and it was quite interactive - they asked us many questions, like what are the pros and cons of working as cabin crew, what do you know about Dubai, etc... The 2 recruiters were really nice and bubbly and the whole experience was very pleasant
Then we were all registered and asked to leave for a moment while they adjusted the seats for group work.
After we came back in, they sat us down in 3 circles of around 13 people each. They asked to turn to the person on your right and ask them some questions: if you were invisible for a day, where would you go, what would you do? If there was a movie about you, which actor/actress would you like to play you and why? Favourite colour, item of clothing, country to visit and why? Then each of us had to get up and present the person next to us.
While we were "interviewing each other", the recruiters carried out a reach test. While we performed it individually, we were asked some questions 1-2-1: what do you do now? What did you do before? Why do you want to be a cabin crew? do you have any tattoos? Scars?
After the tests and presentations, we were given a group discussion: the earth is coming to an end, but humans have found another planet - identical to the earth. Which 3 professions and 3 objects would you send in a shuttle to that new planet? The recruiters walked around the room and took notes while we were deciding...
Then they asked for 6 people from each circle to stand up and say what the group has decided.
Now... my conclusion of the day is: DO NOT say more than absolutely needed, smile and DO NOT say anything during the group discussion. Just nod and agree to what everybody else is saying ("oh yes, I agree with you", "that's a good point" etc. even if you don't agree, just go with it)! From 40 of us, only 5 remained and none of the 5 seemed too vocal during the exercises. In fact... I could hardly remember them, because they blended into the background and didn't stand out too much.
Like others have pointed out on this forum in the past, they are not looking for leaders or opinionated people or even good presenters (so don't get up to say what your group has decided!). They are looking for people who will not be imposing / pushy / chatty / outstanding in any way. By their choice of the final 5, they seem to want people who will just stay in the background, quietly, smiling, nodding along. Which makes sense, considering that they want their crew to provide a comfortable and pleasant service while getting along with the rest of the crew and being generally easy going.
Another bit - what to wear? The final 5 seemed to have been judged purely on their personalities and not looks, so don't stress too much about it. There was a girl who wore a skirt and a pretty top and no jacket (so not a suit), there was a girl who wore a suit and a very short skirt (not knee length), etc... It looks like at the assessment centre stage all they're after is someone who blends in nicely and doesn't catch anybody's attention, while being generally smiley and pleasant.
It appears that I was in the wrong by trying to show my friendly and bubbly personality and an ability to handle the group discussion in an arbitrage sort of way. I will try again in a few months and (however weird it sounds), I won't talk ;-) Just smile and nod along...
Good luck everybody!
(and thanks for reading, it is a bit of an essay ....)

online application mistake after FI
Hi Guys!!!
Please help me! =)))
My online status is now Advert Closed! =D
It's not funny actually...=)
I applied online before the OD in Milan and than one week after my FI I realized that my application was completed just 88%, so I fully completed my application form for an other OD because the Milan one was already CLOSED.....grrrrrrr
So now is Advert Closed for Milan and for the other OD is applied (?!?!?!?!)
I wrote them a letter about my mistake but they didn't answered...
Now Im sure that I cant follow my status...but does anybody think that its a big problem? Should I call them or something?
Any idea???
Thanx a lot! =)))
ps.: however Im not sure that was completely my mistake, because just my references were missing which weren't necessary to be given...hmm (?)

Not Shortlisted
I kept updating and applying to ODs and ADs and kept getting not shortlisted. At first I thought it was because I didn't submit a resume/CV with the online application as I couldn't find where to post it or copy and paste it. I managed to copy and paste it in the same box where it said I should say why I wanna work for Emirates. I stuck it under my answer.
Still got not shortlisted. I suspect it's either that I've been rejected or because they've not seen my CV. I'll probably just hope I can get hired by another airline. What do ya'll think?

cabin crew with kids
Hi there, can anyone tell me, before I apply, if there is such a policy of not hiring cabin crew who has got kids? I have one and I used to be a Flight attendant for an airline, and my son is used to my absence... anyway, thanks guy on advance
