Hi guys,

I have a question, at the beginning of the year, I attended a FI and unfortunately didnt make it further. I had a question that went as follows, Tell me about a time when you went against your boss? Also, tell me about a time when you went out of your way for a customer? I think these questions might have have had something to do with why I didnt make it. What would your answer be? I know theres no correct answer but some guidance from someone who has been successful and received those questions would be great!
Thanks guys!

They will call you unless they cannot reach you by phone then you will receive an email to congratulate you. Rejection is through email.

I'm really worried about this question.
I'm going to AD in december... And then, If I go through the AD, I'll have the FI.
And I've heard about these questions. I never had to go against my boss, or had a problem with any customer.
I'm really confused...

Thanks a lot!
Well, I never had to go against my boss, but once, I had a problem with a "customer".
But he wasn't really a customer, he was a burglar, trying to steal a car from my company (I worked at a car rental company), well, at the end of all, he threatened me to death and I called the police, and he was arrested and sent back to his country, because he was involved with several crimes...
That's why I said I never had to go against a customer, because he wasn't really a customer, he was a thief.

I was told by the recruiter that if I have not experienced any of the situations she will ask me about I can just answer "I have never faced such a situation". Well personally I think it is better if you have doubts. And of course you have to be careful with the questions like "did you ever have to go agaisnt your boss?" It is very tricky, if you answer "yes" you have to have a really serious reason for that. But then again you should try and answer as many questions as you can to show them that you have a lot of experience.
I also noticed that some of the questions are similar to those in the personality test we had to do before the FI. So you have to be careful again and at least give them more or less the same answers.
Just think before you say anything, you dont have to be 100% honest and if you have experience in customer service then it will not be a problem for you to answer all the questions. Prepare some rady answers in advance and try to look at them with the eyes of the recruiters.

Good luck!

hair color

I am confused about hair color. I got the final approval a couple of days before, and now I red the image and uniform standard form, which says you must have a hair color which is one shade lighter or darker, and it has to have a natural look. I am originally brown, but im blond for 5- or 6 years ( which is not one shade lighter), however it has a natural look. So should I color back my hair to brown, or should I choose a darker blond color?

I dont want to have troubles because of my hair, however its important for the photos for the visa as well.
Thank you!

BRACES

Hi people! Thanks for all the ASTONISHING data u´re all posting on the forum. I´ll attend my first open day here in Lisbon, now on the 10th of December, and, well, i´m a bit insecure about my braces. I use them since past may, and i´ll still have them till April 2012. Is there a problem if i have braces? can i still run for a place as Emirate´s cabin crew? I read in one of this threads something about a paragraph on a document they handle u to read before the final interview..looks like it says something about this subject...

can somebody help me? IS this a motive for a dismissal?

Thank u so much, and keep on the good work! Ill post something about an open day in lisbon as soon as i can! have to thank u all in some way... *

Well, EK doesn't accept braces.
They explained here, if someone had braces, could not apply to the AD until take it off...

I suppose it's a good reason to be a bit worried, but to be honest I don't think you should with questions like that if you haven't had an experience to give an answer. Think about it, if the questions don't apply to you, why would they need to hold it against you? They can't possibly be thinking "you can't work for us because we *need* you to have had this experience in order for us to know how you'd react to a situation like that!" If you put it that way, it sounds a bit silly no? If you answered with a blatant lie, well, maybe that's what it was, but if you didn't have an answer or if your answer wasn't as adequate(in your opinion) it shouldn't be much of an issue. There's a lot of other reasons why you may not have gotten through. It could've been anything from the way you speak, the fact that you didn't seem friendly or approachable enough, your body language, grooming and the way you present yourself, etc. You won't know, but it's so unfortunate to go that far and get the boot, but don't be disheartened because now that you know what to expect, the next time won't be as scary and who knows what might happen! Don't give up if it's what you really want. Good luck!

Out of curiosity though, what sort of questions were you asked if you can remember them?(this goes out to anyone who's done their FI aswell)

Travel Benefits

Hi ppruners.

I live in the UK and entered into civil partnership a few months ago before I was thinking about joining EK. My question is if this person as my civil partner would be entitled to travel benefits such as free tickets and stuff? (being the UAE a Muslim country I'd doubt it?).
Has anyone ever heard of this?
Thanks

photos, cv and what else

Hi,
I'm going to attend an OD this week. On the website I read: "updated CV along with full lenght and passport size photographs in business attire", but someone here mentioned about some casual photos plus suit photos.
So I'm just thinking to get me back:

- 2 casual photos (full lenght + half lenght)
- 2 photos in business attire (full lenght + half lenght)
- 6 (?) passport size photos

Besides, for making a good impression I was thinking about a reference letter in addition to the cv.

So should I bring the stuff mentioned on the website or get me back all these ones?

Thank you all!

Daenerys

Here in Brazil, I only needed this:
What to bring to the Open Day:

· Your English Resume

· 2 Passport size face photos – business attire and smiling (ladies must wear make-up and hair tied)

· 1 or 2 face/full body photos (casual – any type!)

You really don't need to take any recommendation letter or anything like this...
They probably will not receive this!

Job issue: I think, you should be honest, and say you quit from your job (give a good reason why) and also add, that you are currently looking for a new job. If you would be successful they would ask you to send them the letter of resignation, so what would you do then?? Lie again? Nooo, you should be honest!!! It wont be a bad point.
The questions about the FI are all in this forum all you need is to type: FI questions to the thread search option and i am sure you will find plenty of them!!!
I think you also should have a copy of your highest education degree.
Good luck for the OD!

Again and again

Today was my third time attending an assessment day in my country (First time made it to the final interview) But unfortunately I again failed to get over the first stage. I am really wondering what the recruiters are looking for or there is something wrong with me?
