Waiting for GC

Hey guys., after more than 7 weeks waiting time, my status finally says "you will be contacted..." hoping to get that GC soon!!

One question though, are we allowed to request our DOJ? I have a few friends Im hoping to fly out with from Toronto.. Do you think recruiters will look down on me if I ask that question when I receive the call.. ?

Hope you guys can help out! Thank you so much everyone!

Accomodation

Hi everybody !
I'm flying to Dubai on Tuesday and i've just found out that i am going to stay at Sarab Building, Block 1, Nad Al Shiba..
Does anyone know anything about it ? I mean, it would be helpful to know what it's like and what i need to take with me , because some people say that it is too far from the center and no buses
Can aynone please share her/his experiences with us ?
Thanks in advance !

Fluency in Arabic

That page, if you read it, is specifically referring only to those applicants who are applying in person at the headquarters in Dubai. ALL applicants, no matter where they are applying, MUST speak ENGLISH, and that is the only compulsory language. Speaking ONLY English will be (in practice, but not officialy) a detriment to your considering the thousands of applicants they get that are multi-lingual, but you can still do it, and good luck!

Cabin crew assessment days

I wonder can you help with my girlfriends application. She applied for the london assessment days online and has not had any emails to say yes or no. Her status on her application just says applied. Are the closing dates the dates of the actual assessment days or if she meets the requirements will she hear at a later stage?

mzrhai: You can ask them for a specific date if you want and if they can they will give it to you (depends on how many people they already have for that date)....they are flexible about your DOJ so go ahead and try! Asking can't harm, right? I asked for extension and got it...

didodido: I hear it's not that bad at all...it's the new "Emirates village" where most of new stuff will be accomodated...rooms are quite big and new, you have gym and pool, also some have balconies...It is opposite Global Village, which you can find on Google maps...it's a big entartainment area...also I hear, they have regular buses to HQ and Dubai mall for crew, so there is no need to worry you can't go anywhere...also the area is quite nice, the beach is 10 min away...though the city centre is not that close...but the way things go in Dubai it will be a part of City in a year

katiaz: you could wait for up to 2 weeks, if you don't get it by then, contact them thru portal...I think they are really busy at the time!

didodido: All you have to do is print it out and have it with you on plane so you can do the exercises about crew...everything else you can do later in Dubai, you will have enough time to do it I guess...go through it anyways quickly so you'll see what to expect (and what to bring with you as inside are also some grooming info). Good luck and let us know how you like it down there!

Request to send MORE photos?! Good sign or not?

Hi all

I have read through endless pages on here and on other sites however I have never came across the issue I have....

I got an email off emirates asking for MORE photos, this time 2 full length casual ones. This comes after an email on the 6th oct asking for new formal ones, as my originals werent suitable. Which was fine, I got them redone and sent off.

However the email on thursday was a lot more serious sounding, and stated my application was incomplete and they needed the 2 casual ones asap, otherwise my pending application will be declined!!!!! ahhhh!

I'm starting to lose hope, as its been 8 weeks to the day since my FI, and others from my group have all had their calls etc so I just want to know now! My online status has also been Approval in Process for 3 weeks, but I know this isnt 100% positive, so I'm edging on the side of caution now and not getting carried away thinking the jobs mine!

ahhhhhh stresssssed!!!! I'm going to ring the London office today however I was curious if anyone had encountered this before, or know someone who has had this too!? Generally any insight that will calm my nerves haha!

Thanks in advance!

A bit of a silly question, but i thought i'd ask since i follow a good nutrition regime: does the cabin crew get to eat whatever they please while flying? (say fancy food from first class) or are they given a fixed employee meal? Are there choices for them? Can they have seconds if they want to? It would be nice to know these little details

Also, on the meal allowances, is it true that you could eat at a decent restaurant joint and yet get to save half the money for yourself? (are they pretty generous about that sum of money?

Thank you so much in advance!!

Cheerio

Another question! (about those new joiners): is there a weight limit on your luggage? (hoping it's big enough to bring your belongings/clothes)

Thanks again guys!

Ashtangi-guy: Yes, on your joining flight you get 50 kg + hand luggage 10 kg...for the meals...I think you get to eat the food of the class you work in....but not sure about that one...and meal allowances on layovers depends on which country you travel to...its different for Bankok that London or Moscow, for sure...but still..you can save something, definetly

Hi guys! Is there a especific measurement for the business attire all body picture? Is it 4"x6"? And can you give some insight on the casual shot please? (size, background, clothing that can be worn?).

Since i'll take the business attire picture tomorrow (at a photo studio), and need the info on the casual one so i can pick it out from my good existing close up shots.

Thanks so much!!

photos

Hi!

Again..about the photos:

CASUAL: they told us one pic should be in full lenght and not too far from camera (that you're not like tiny person on photo) and another pic should be upper part of body. Both you IN FOCUS. Only one or two others can be on, but it must be clearly seen which one is you. No sunglassess, no hats. Smiling. And properly dressed (more is better). No drinking or ...! And you have to look great on it! To my FI I took around 10 pics and they choose 3. But 2 are enough. Just take in consider all I just wrote about

BUSINESS ATTIRE: Hair in bun (no hair visible), no jewelry, standing straight towards camera (no side photos), legs straight towards camera, standing still, hands on the side of your body (there must be "space" between hands and body). Attire: knee lenght skirt, closed shoes with heels, blouse, elegant jacket, red lipstick (red nails or french manicure), tights in skin color. Its the same for men: neat hair, shaved, and in business dress...and SMILE! The body composition is the same! White background. 10cm x 15cm (you can do the face shoot in the same time, just from shoulders up, for the passport size!)
