Same date of Joining
RegJoy
We have the same date of joining. We will definitely be in the same training group, I will fly from New York, so exciting, can not wait.

Don't kill yourself with worry, I know it is terrible, because I waited for 3 months.
Actually whole NYC group waited forever, but we made it eventually. So just be patient, as long as you don't get the rejection e-mail, you are good. I don't wish you to wait as long as we did, so hopefully they will call you soon. Fingers crossed.
Yellow fever Vaccine???????
Does anyone know is it really free to get this vaccine in Dubai, or it's just a rumor.
If we have to pay for it there, maybe it is better to get it home.

Can someone help me?
Can someone help me here? I'd like to ask if the selection process for those who were shortlisted for cabin crew internal hiring of Emirates would be much easier compared to those applicants who go to an open day. Do you really have to go through all stages of application (e.g. group discussions, reach test, written tests, then final interview) even if you were shortlisted on their internal hiring or they would just require you to pass the final interview? Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

Beaverfly I have to say, if it is free that would be devastating after paying $170 for it!!
I do think that it is deducted from your pay... I could be wrong...
Hales83 If you have a look through the last few pages on the forum, you will see a lot of UK people going on the same date as you.

when i joined I had everything but yellow fever (in my country it cost about $85 US) and as I was low on money I didn't do it, they gave it to me in Dubai as it was the onyl one left. As far as I can remember, it never appeared as a deduction so perhaps they do give it for free. But it might have changed since, so it's up to you.
Yellow Fever vaccine also makes you feel a bit
for a day or two, well it did for me!

Yasmina
Yasmina,
Melbourne Open Days can be crowded, the one I went to had around 130 people. It's true that they make the OD into an AD if there aren't too many candidates. This happened in Adelaide where my friend was recruited, there were only around 70 people.
I think the email they send out is random and has nothing to do with if they think you're a good fit or not. The recruiters wouldn't even know who got those emails. And I got the email seconds after I submitted my application, so I doubt anyone had even looked at my profile.
I've never seen any AD's in Australia since I've been following their website (2 years). I think they only do these in cities where they get enormous number of candidates.
It would be easier to stand out where there are fewer candidates, but try not to think about this too much. At the end of the day, if you have what they're looking for and can deliver on the day, I don't think it matters where you go. Just as an example, when I reached the final interview, there were over 150 people at my OD. The second time I tried out in Zurich (I was traveling), they had less than 20 candidates and I didn't pass the first round.
Good luck!

Really really appreciate your advice! Guess ill do what's reasonable and just go to Melbourne OD. If I don't get in, at least I wouldn't of lost $500 + dollars on flights and accmdation as i would of in Newcastle. Good luck this time round! Hope you get in,

Beaverfly How much do you have to pay for the fellow fever vaccine in USA?
I took all the vaccines in the UK, and I paid £100 for all the vaccines, most of them were free but yellow fever cost me £50 and the Hep B (i think..) cost me £50 as well...
And it's true... when you take the yellow fever vaccine you will feel a little bit ill
Two of my friends got the same DOJ as you!!
Good luck to everyone!

I think they do deduct from your paycheck for all the vaccines you get in Dubai..they're not for free...at least that's how it's written in my employment contract...
In my country I paid 130 eur for: yellow fever, polio, typhoid, diptheria, meningococcal.
I had Hep. A+B from before (for combined 3 shots I paid 150 euros) and tetanus I was given for free when I had some injury.
Anyone with DOJ on Nov. 7th?

Hello all. There are a lot of NOV join dates!
My DOJ is Oct 10th and I have yet to get most of my shots and probably wont because all my money is going into me moving from NY to FL then relocating to DXB. Crazy life I live right now lol. I cant wait to receive my accommodation and flight info. Im super stoked.
I've been doing research as for (removed name) since I'm from USA and like to participate on social networking sites which I heard are blocked in Dubai I would have to purchase a (removed name). Another expense :-(
But, its all worth it. Any one recommend any (removed name) ? I was actually looking at (removed site name) .
Also, to the poster arvind(I believe I spelled it wrong) but I hope that poster received their GC theyve been waiting for a long time.

Avoid mentioning VPN names on this site, they have been known to become blocked after being named here. If you're talking about BookFace then no it's not blocked here. Neither is that Twitter thing.
As for vaccinations, what would I know I'm only looking at my payslip right now with no deductions on it...
I never said they don't charge I said they didn't charge ME...

Hey guys, congratulations on your GC's... it is really motivating and exciting for me to know your progresses and getting to your goal.
Please keep posting once you get to Dubai.
I hope I won't spend this much in vaccines if I make it to the FI, but I gues most of them are for free here in Brazil, specially the Yellow Fever, I've had all of them before, but I don't have any proof of them.

AmyH after the medicals you will receive your advise to resign (if applicable), and after the Final Approval.
The e-ticket and visa will be sent a week before the DOJ, and I think in the same week we will find out about the accommodation.
I also got the same problem, i have got an iphone4 here in the Uk, but i don't think EK provide a sim card, you will have to do it yourself...
Just make sure you get an adaptor for the microsim card
