Medicals

For the physical examination,no one will undress you. The doctor which will be the same sex as your gender will ask you to take off your clothes for physical examination. You get to keep your panty and bra on (undies for the guys) so no worries!

The tattoo in the OK area should be fine. I had a batchmate who had one in her right shoulder. I don't know about the whole declaring it or not though. They do handle it in different ways somehow.

Hi everyone!
I've just joined this forum which is so helpful, you guys do an amazing job by providing all this useful information. Thanks!!
I'll be joining the OD in Italy, Bari in October (btw, is there anyone out there who is thinking about going there??) but here comes my question:
will they consider my application even if I'll get my MA degree in February 2012?
Could that be a problem?
Thanks in advance to whoever will answer me

Actually the doctor isn't always the same gender. You can ask to have a nurse present but you have to arrange it before you go in for the exam.

Was this "ok go" thing on the form? I don't recall seeing one however there is a diagram doing the rounds which was made by an ex-EK cabin crew- I don't think this is official though.

Moral of the story to everyone else.... do what we've been saying and DON'T LIE ON YOUR APPLICATIONS!!! You'll save yourself the stress as seen here which is what people have been saying all along!

If you get sent home for lying you have no-one to blame but yourselves.

Hi everybody, once again! Just wanted to say that I did figured out how to complete my application hehe, and so I did it
I also did state date of my interview so hopefully they will change my status soon

@ juliette-chan As I can remember there should not be any problems with completing your MA degree, because they give you 4 moths period to come to Dubai and you can state your obligations in form they give you to complete prior to FI.

@sublime Really don’t know anything about your problem, but hopefully everything will turn out well, will cross fingers for you!
Stay positive, Im sure its not the first time that happend

Best of luck to ya all!

Finally

Hello beautiful people.
I guess my group in NYC had to live through an earthquake and an hurricane to hear some good news.
Finally it happened to me, too, i received GC last night.
And since I was reading this blog throughout my waiting time let me share my experience:

Open Day in NYC on saturday May 28th
Assesment Day on sunday May 29th
Final Int on May 31th
My status stayed "under reviw" from the first day till the
August 17 th when it changed to "you will be contacted... at the earliest"
The same day aug. 17 i received tattoo email
And on Aug. 28th at 1:35 AM, US Eastern time Golden Call.
My date of joining is Oct. 24th

So to all of you who are still waiting dont worry, as long as you havent received rejection email you still have excellent chance to be called.
It took them two months and 28 days to call me.
All the waiting was horrible, but I feel soooo good right now.

Fingers crossed for everybody. See you in Dubai.

tattoo

Recently I flew with a new joiner here in Etihad after she was fired at Emirates for not declaring a tattoo at her lower back....

No idea how the will handle it now, if they are desperate for crew to join quickly, you might be fine, good luck!

beaverfly glad for your great news finally, good things come for those who wait!

foodie, do you know if she was fired right after joining/medicals or later on?
i talked to some girls that have recently joined and they told i won't have a problem if the tattoos are in the ok go area, and that the doctors are europeans and couldn't care less about non visible tattoos. however, mine can be covered easily as it is a fade black and would definitely not be visible through the white shirt..
so now I guess I just have to try my luck and hope for the best :-s

Hey sublime stop stressing!! We all know you shouldn't have lied, yes, but it's a thing you can't change now as well as the tattoo. So no more worries and from now on, if someone sees it, put your most natural face.
There's a lesson for all in this.. me included!

hey there.
you dont have to undertake anymore the audiogram . There is no urine test at this stage! (it will be once in dubai).

they usually take between 1-3 days to update your portal with your pre-contract.
you can have vaccinations in dubai only that you'll have to pay for them.
Good luck and if you have other issues just ask, they've just approved my medicals..

Waiting Worrying Wondering and Watching

Hie blanketbird,

I also applied for cabin crew on the 14th of July and before i even completed the process, my status was not shortlisted. This confused me a bit as i was still busy completing the forms (on the net) a friend of me told me that i'm now too old for their liking. is it true? i just turned 27 by the way

hello sabbs

hello are you waiting for the GC?? well i had my FI mid May. as far as i know Emirates does not have any specific requirements as far as age is concerned except that you have to be 21 or 21+, reading previous posts i read one about a lady aged 33 and being recruited by Emirates. so do not worry and wait, so far you do not get the rejection mail means you still stand good.

juliette chan good luck! I actually live close to Bari now and I would've come there for sure but I went in july in Florence and there I was recruited, and I went with a friend (who btw she is 27 years for someone who was asking!) and she got chosen as well . However, italy is great for open days...not many participants and few know english good

For all Kenyans out there

If you could not make it with emirates airlines, you still can try your chance with Etihad Airways next year as they are planning to recruit many Kenyans. (Read the announcement)

Nairobi becomes Etihad’s 72nd destination, and the airline’s first in East Africa. New route begins in early April 2012, and will be operated by a two-class Airbus A320 aircraft – 16 Pearl Business and 120 Coral Economy seats. Online booking available soon!

good luck

still cant believe it!!!!

Hi all, I got my golden call today, I am so happy!!! Tentatively booked DOJ 3rd October. It took 1 month from my FI. Good luck to those still waiting for GC. I'm stressing a bit because I need to wait for my passport and don't know if I will receive it in time before I have to join.

If you go to their website(Welcome to Emirates Group Careers Centre - Work for Emirates), you can find a list of Global Assessment day/open days which you can apply for.

Good Luck!

Sublime, that's a good news for me It's such a shame that in Italy there are few people that can actually speak correctly English. (sorry for this little OT)
Anyway, now that I'm thinking about, I have another question.
After the Open Day, the following parts are held at the same place? I'm just wondering for how many days I should stay in Bari.

well, if you arrive until the FI you have to stay 3 days at least. Because first would be open day, second would be assessment and third and fourth-final interviews. I personally chose the 4th day for my FI because after the assessment I was sooooooo tired and needed a bit of rest. But FI wasnt hard at all.. you just have to think you're at a coffee with some girls that want to know you :P I was veeerrry relaxed, despite of the assessment day when I was freaking out about every detail
wish you luck and do come to tell your experience!!
in florence there were 113 people at the OD so i guess in bari would be even less, which is soooo good.

- letter of employment
- university (proof of studies or something? I haven't finished yet)
