Nairobi AD

This is how it all went down on the AD 21st (they also carried out another AD on the 20th)

Arrival 8.20 many people at the hall, beautiful smiles and well dressed.

8.30am recruiters enter and send all without invitation letters out including spectators .

8.45 am roll-call if your name does not match your out.

9.00 am emirates video and life as a cabin crew.

9.15 am Q and A (forgot to mention number of people 90) Group divided into 4 parts. 1st session group 1 and 2. sit in a circle tell us about the person sited to your right (while this was going on the reach test was being done, they also ask you a few questions do you work? which year did you clear school?) Question 2. Arrange a 24hour Holiday for the 2 recruiters. (they walk around watching as you discuss)

Break for 5 minutes while group 3 and 4 enter for their session. The results are out for group 1 and 2 , after group 3 and 4 are done, they get there results.

Around 18 people left. There after the English Test ( Quite simple but it took all my energy because of the concentration and speed)

Break 10 minutes No one got cut at this point .

The group then got divided into 2. Group 1. sit in a circle discuss 3 major problems affecting your country and document them as journalist( Our discussion went on and on, the recruiters sit at opposite ends of the circle) Question 2. the first items you would pick in case of an accident.

Then 1 on 1 with the recruiter (Mark declaration, this is where i believe i failed i said i have a birth mark on my arm) then we wait for group 2 to finish the session , they come out and join us in the wait for results(which took forever ).

this is where i was cut off but only 3 people made it.

I will try again after 6 months it was interesting . P.S do not be afraid to lead so long as you can do it well and be yourself if its meant to be yours its yours.

To Sublime

Sublime, if you can see Step 2: Joining then you have passed the medicals. In my case, they have sent me sms and e-mail telling me that I can resign and that they have obtained the final approval of my application. I think that's it
Congrats and see you in Dubai

wow, thanks so much for the answer!! yes, I see all the steps from JOINING! I even read the workbook hehe... I was not sure because they did not send me anything yet...no mail,sms..maybe because I dont need to resign or what? I asked on the portal how would i know my medicals were approved or not, but no answer still, and they wont work until sunday.. this is really streange, I am seeing the Joining part and so on but they did not send me anything. I even asked today on the portal if I can send the full blood count ( as I only send the hemoglobine value) and the HR told no, we already have, you don't have to upload. But I thought she would have told me if my medicals were approved. How strange..now I think I have to wait for the answer of the pending query maybe it will enlighten me

Hey guys

So im a Male, who has applied to the OD in my country.

It's on the 10th of September, my question is:

1) Im only 22yrs and unfortunately balding early (male pattern baldness) i usually shave my head clean, however i'm contemplating on growing it a bit for the OD. Does this matter a lot? What about facial hair (a little not a lot)

I'm really excited for this, can't wait for that day!

Thanks for your patience!

captainzaak I have mi OD on the 10th as well here in Argentina!
Regarding your questions, yes hair standards matter in EK so you should definitely grow your hair a bit. The company does not accept baldness (being genetic of shaved to zero). With facial hair I'm not so sure but if I was male and going to the OD, I'd shave everything, no facial hair looks more polished in general.
Best of luck!

arvind well I might be right then, hang in there!

You're welcome captainzaak , but I said "IF I was male", I'm a girl! So I would be 'sis' not 'bro'

To all, finally I sent my CV yo the appointed agency here in Argentina and received an invitation to a personal interview being held the same day of the Open Day in the city of Cordoba. It's the same as a regular OD but they know who is going, they give an appointment at 11:30 in te morning and then the regular OD is held between 1 and 6pm.
So yes I will be having my OD the very same day of my birthday! Hope that gives me some luck!!! In the meantime I have to redo my pictures profesionally, my home camera doesn't take them very well plus I don't have a proper place at home... And my face looks weird, I have to practise a good picture smile

Angel Waiting Worrying Wondering and watching

So I think I may be a little impatcient , i sent my online application through 4 days ago both as cabin crew and to apply to the Global assesment day in my city , (which is on the 10th and 11th of September) I havn't heard anything yet, and the date is fast aproaching ....
how long does it usualy take till you get an invite?
I know the generated email says it can take up to 3 monthes to process, and its only been four days, but they dont seem to have recruitment in my country very often so wouldnt they try and round up all the applications for the day they are here?
do they send you for the first assesment day in your location?
this could just be me panicing I am still writing my thesus and my fnals are only in november, so technically im still busy with my honours, but I desperately want to get the ball rolling I want to know that once I'm done with my varsity, I can move straight on to this increadable oppertunity . I have been reading and researching and so passionately invested in this dream from across a computer screen , im just so excited to hopefully actually live it soon!!!
do you blame me..
anyway , any info about how long it usualy takes would be greatly appriciated!!!
I wish everyone the best of luck!
oooo also, if anyone is applying from SouthAfrica, (like me) or has applied ,it would be really cool to connect, please msg me
this is such an awsum forum, so glad we can share our experiances

Flying or NO flying experience?

Hi all

Sorry if this has already been asked, it's just such a big thread to go over and read what has/hasn't been discussed!

I'm really keen on pursuing my dream of International Cabin Crew in the next year or two, in particular with the Emirates Group as I have admired this Airline for many years now.

Presently, I possess approximately 2 years Airline (Ground Crew) experience and have opportunities to get into Domestic flying within Australia. I've heard before that when Emirates recruit, they usually prefer to hire those whom do NOT possess Cabin Crew experience, as that way they can train 'fresh' and 'passionate' individuals and mold them to EK's standards.

My question is, do you think I would have a better chance of getting in with Emirates if I were to have:

- NO flying experience, but over 3 years Airline Ground Crew experience; or
- 2 years Airline Ground Crew experience, in addition to Domestic Cabin Crew experience?

Captainzaak,
I also have the same date as you....same country, same place and same time. Was also wondering about the hair issue so I plan to be medium and of course take a mark. No facial hair for me as I plan to shave clean.
All the best.

V Aussie,

I would not worry about it. If they like you, they like you.

I know plenty of ex-flyers hired in the last 12 months or so and more recently.

If they can see you'll fit in then I don't think they have a problem with previous experience, in some cases I believe it's an asset if you've learnt the right things from it.

Show them the good skills you'll bring with you and tell them why you're willing to fit in at EK. Good luck!

Virgin Australian

Based on my experience, Emirates recruit individuals whom they think are capable. It would make sense to recruit someone with a bit of experience, but I am sure that if they accept you it would be because they believe you have the necessary skills to handle the job.
I wouldn't worry, just apply whenever you want and hope for the best.
Hope this helps.

My apologies on the gender comment

topshotter007

Thanks, same to you! I'm growing out my hair and will shave as well.

Hoping there's not to many people so we'll have more of a chance

hello

Virgin Australian - you should be positive and just attend the OD, everyone is trying so why not you

generally speaking i would say that when attending an OD, you should bear in mind that the ladies will be looking at the way you dress, so dress as if you were already working for Emirates...anyway they do have a dress code for the OD and which is also the same as for the FI

Question

Hello everybody
I have couple of questions regarding my profile on emirates recruitment site.
I ve opened it last year when I was thinking to apply for cabin crew but in the end I decided I will postpone it and did not complete it. So this year (two weeks ago) I finally went on OD and made it to FI but I did not apply thru profile, I just showed up there with CV.

So my questions are;
How important is it to have a complete profile in my stage?
How do I upgrade and complete it (because I can get further than basic info) and also, will they connect me with it even tough I did not apply for open day I went via that profile?

I think you should go to the first OD available to you, and take the job at the domestic carrier if it's available. Emirates hired me with 8 months of domestic cabin crew experience. A great thing to tell them at this point is that you really enjoy your job, but would like to travel internationally and be able to help a wider range of people/ your people skills are not being used to their full advantage. Either way, domestic or international, you'll love the job!
