Couples

Hello everyone,

my boyfriend and I are going to the OD together and of course we both hope to be successful. What would you suggest we do if we both make it to the FI? Shall we tell them the other one is applying as well or shall we just omit the subject? I don't know what is the best thing to do. Of course I will not lie, but there are different ways of telling the truth
Any suggestion highly appreciated!

09.08.2011 Approval In Progress
11.08.2011 You Will Be Contacted By Your Recruitment Officer At The Earliest

I know this helps especially for those who is in the waiting game. I am still so excited as I got my Golden Call 10 days after my Final Interview unexpectedly. By the way, I would like to find out who is having the same Date Of Join with me. Thanks.

AmyJ1982 I would advise you not to ask for the HR number, it is hard enough to get in touch with them for people who actually made it and have urgent questions. Make the enquiries through email!

betterharbor from what I've read all this time, you receive your e-ticket and visa around one week to four days prior to your DOJ.

Danfromaus Read this thread at least from PAGE 1.

Mauve remember that having relations before marriage is illegal in the UAE, that should tell you what to do, apply your common sense.

arvind74 that's what happens when people give out the HR number, then you can't reach them. Keep on trying, writing, calling!!

ivancwtay Congrats!!

Hey guys, i've been flying for EK for almost 4 years and I can tell you that you shouldn't worry too much if you fail... Of course it's frustrating and dissapointing, but hey, 2 of my friends passed the Open day on the 2nd shot. And I know this girl that passed it on the 5th one. So keep on trying!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck!

Medical Check Up

PrimaveraCero Thanks

I am waiting for my medical letter urgently as I need to resign from the airline I already signed agreement with. Therefore, I would appreciate if anyone could send me the letter in order I undergo the medical check up earlier. Thanks in advance.

Hobart 2nd Sept?

Anyone going to the Hobart Open day?
It's been years since I have attended one and it'd be good to chat to someone before hand to freshen up!

hi all

I have a few questions and concerns:

1) anyone know, for certain, how serious or the reason behind Emirates 6month or 1 year wait? I got rejected after the final interview, & i really want to reapply for the sept 10th on, but that would only be 3month from my final interview.

2) is it true they are not hiring any Asians at the moment? because i'm Chinese (but grew up in Canada), and I made it through the final interview. Logically, why would they give me final interview if they werent hiring asians?

3) If I'm going to usa for open day, and hypothetically, make it through the interviews, would Emirates hire? Because i'm Canadian, but applied in the us. Also, would that make a difference in with the one year wait?

thanks everyone for reading this.

ps, I applied with EITHAD online on Aug1st 2011, but never got a reply does that mean my application was unsuccessful?

About not hiring asians, that was just a rumor. But if you look at the EK open days and assesments you can see that all the locations are in non-asian countries. but its just a rumor.
You have to wait 6 months i think before you re-apply.
But if its an open day why not just try again? Dont do it if its an assessment day coz they can check records.

Just go to the US and do your open day there! why not.

hi
thanks for the reply.
I would, but I live in Vancouver Canada, and the open day is in Toronto Canada, so I was hoping to find out a yes or no on the wait time. i don't know if I should invest more time and money just for a maybe.

Also, I made it to the final interview , and in the rejection email they said I can reapply after one year... so I dont know was hoping someone would know for sure. a lot of companies say that (waiting a certain amount of time) but most say that as a common reply.

Caramelgirl -
you should not confuse people if you are not sure about your information.
unsuccessful after FI = you must wait one year
unsuccessful during the AD or OD submission = you must wait 6 months

and EK is really strict about it.

Tinakung
- You really have to wait ONE YEAR if you are unsuccessful in your FI. They can track candidates from their system by full name, nationality, date of birth and passport number and let's say you go to an open day before you complete your year and make it to the FI once they are back to Dubai , they will find out definitely and will reject you straight away!
About not wanting asians is not true and any way you are holding canadian passport and they don't count you as an asian so don't worry!
For now they are in big need of mandarin speaker which means they need asians.

PS: EK and EY are not filipinos for now.

Regarding your application with etihad: if you did not get any respond yet after applying means you have a big chance to be invited to an AD. be patient and wait.

Good luck

Tinakung- I really advise you to wait one year. A friend of mine did not respect the one year wait period after they rejected her after FI, and she arrived again at the FI. From all the 12 people arrived at the FI she was the only one being rejected. They dont give feedback but she is sure it was because of not waiting one year!!! so, they do catch you! I wouldn't recommend you to re-apply before the one year time because you will blow up any future chance with emirates! just have patience and respect their rule! of course you can do as you want in the end...

To Easyman82 & Sublime,

Thanks to both of you for the feedbacks. I suppose there isn't much I can do differently, and I do want to respect Emirates' rules.

As for ETIHAD, I'll just be patient and wait a bit longer... I just know people getting a response for AD after a day or 2 applying (on-line), and in the e-mail it stated "we will be in touch with you again shortly" so..... fingers crossed (i have not stopped thinking about them ...) & I hope I'll get an AD invite or at least a rejection e-mail.

truely, good luck to everyone who's waiting

Hi all,

I have been reading the EK forums for a while now in preparation for an OD. Can anyone advise how long it takes to receive the 'Unsuccessful' email after FI? I hope I never get it :-)

Good luck to everyone

Qatar

Lucas,

my honest opinion: WAIT.

Actually, you can apply 11 months after your resignation. (That's the information I got.)

You won't get a straight answer to your questions above as the recruiters and hr people don't and cannot post on pprune. Yes, you can get answers like: I heard..., According to my friend... , As far as I know.... but nobody can and will tell you what to do.

Someone posted in the Qatar topic that there is no agreement between the companies any more. According to my several sources this information is incorrect. However, try and go if you want. There is no harm. Two of the girls from my country who work for Qatar went to an Open Day in June, both were eliminated after the cv drop-off. (Source: non-English forum.) If it happens to you: you need to wait 6 more months, just like now. If they take you: I was wrong.

Emirates DOES hire people with flying experience. There should be 1-5 ex-crew in a batch. My friend got the Golden Call a week ago and he used to work for 2 airlines in my country before went to the UK.

FYI: he was hired from the Birmingham OD (120 attended), only 5 boys made it to the second round after the cv drop-off. (FI in Birmingham: 31 girls and 3 boys. He wrote: very strong candidates, so well-done Birmingham people!)

I know many ex-GulfAir, -SIA, -Qatar, -KingFisher crew who work for Emirates. (I always spot them in economy because they are so good.)

Your background is fantastic, your age is ideal. I think it's a great advantage that you worked for QR. I'm pretty sure it's better to mention it than deny it. One more thing: you are 23 years old!!! Can't you just wait another 5-10 months until the next recruitment day?! (I hope you found some job at home to survive.)

Good luck with your flying career!
