All JQ recruitment on hold due to the old "Fuel Crisis". All vacancies, including the new PER base will be filled in-house. Surplus crew from ADL of course, plus the over-crewed bases MDB, SYD and NTL will cover network shortages otherwise.
On hold until at least November I'd expect.
Not the greatest of news for those waiting to hear, but better to know than not.

recruitment
I was just speaking to a EXTREMELY high up person in management with Team Jetstar early this week re recruitment when things start up again, and this person told me Team jetstar is focusing everything at the moment on the Asian market and will be very active around Darwin/Cairns.
Nothing on the radar for recruitment in the southern areas - SYD, MEL.
Though this person also said (as we all know) it is the airline industry, and it could all change tomorrow...

Hey there guys,
JQ have spent alot of time in the recent months putting together a GS in Darwin (who were very disappointed with their amended contract only days before going out on line - some of them even left after seeing it and spending so much time and money relocating and studying!)
They have also just put thru 2 more Thai ground schools and a Singaporian ground school with talk of another commencing very soon!
Althought JQ looks like they are most certainly boosting there staff numbers, they are not doing so in Australia!!
May I suggest applying for another airline?? The staff morale at JQ at the moment is exceptionally low!! Having said that, its getting to the point its so low that there are ALOT of people talking about leaving, so maybe you guys will take their place!
Its quite sad at the mo, cos even the ones that LOVE flying are fed up with being underpaid, over worked, disrespected and not taken seriously on fatigue issues!!
Best of luck with your applications - whether with JQ or any other airline!

My sister has been to both Tiger and Jetstar recruitment days and here is some advice:
-Have some knowledge of the operation -fleet is A320's and they fit 180 revenue seats.
-The first announced routes so far are Gold Coast and Sydney Daily services. Could be usefull if they ask you to see if you know.
- Initially 1 new A320 is to be based in AKL
-JQ is the IATA code
-Have some idea of the JQ routes already served to New Zealand perhaps, ie-they use Christchurch to Australian Mainland already
-Jetstar uses A320's/A321's and A330's.
Basically just relax and you will be fine...everyone is nervous

Not sure how they are going to do things over in AKL, but when I did my GS in MEL, it was 6 weeks paid at your base salary.
Youll be fine tomorrow, just relax and be yourself. Make sure that you talk to people when you arrive and during the day. Everyone is in the same boat, so just enjoy it. Also, make sure that you are dressed suitably, ie - business attire.

hi there
i had my interview last month in auckland and it went very well! went to the 2nd interview which is just a morning tea and a final interview, 3 days later i received a email to get my medical and security checks sorted which you do have to pay for yourself $200 for medical and $105 aud for security check, also i had to get my hep a injection $100 and blood test $50 to $100. if you havent completed your rsa certificate which thankfully i completed this time last year it is quite a costly process. then on the 29th of january around 3 weeks after my initial interview i was offered the job!!!
be prepared to fork out around 6 to $700 but in the long run its money well spent
training is paid for and at this stage i think il be doing my line checks over in ozzie.
hope everything went well for you!!

As for the medical you'll be fine it takes about half an hour to 45min to complete, vision and hearing tests, urine test, coordination n just things that youll be fine on really.
I herd there was alot of people yesterday for 2nd round interviews I have a Funny feeling domestic will be opnening shortly and bne and mel.

all info about your medical and security check is sent in the email regarding where to send it and so on, but the medicals are done at white cross clinic in ponsonby. They tell you wether ur medicly fit or not whilst at the clinic, if they dont ur entitled to know.
i had sally for my 2nd interview she was awesome although they dont give away much huh!

Qantas has also had a long association with a doctor in Remuera..
They cant report anything that hasnt been picked up in your medical examination - however I dont recommend you tell any fibs in your application for two reasons.
1) The medical is to assess your fitness and physical suitability to this role, and
2) If they did somehow find out they would have grounds for termination of employment and should they find out through an incident whilst on duty any health cover provided by the company would be void - which could be very expensive if you were away from home etc..
Sorry dont mean to be a big downer..
