not flown
Hang in there Navoff, time will change...
I understand its frustrating, not being able to fly, but at least you get the pay.

Do something...it is a CHOICE
Navoff,
Natoffs is correct. When flights dried up at my employer I was told "Sorry, can't afford to keep you on". In every situation there are two sides.
If you have to park a long way from the supermarket entrance, appreciate the fact that you can walk and have transportation!
If you have high heating bills it means you are warm!
If you pay taxes it's because you are employed!
If you have to clean up after a mess at a party it's because you have friends!
If your clothes fit a little too snug it's because you are well fed!
If you always hear complaints about the government it's because you have freedom of speech.
Get my point?
As for sitting at home, then don't. Find something to do. Give to the community, teach...you never know how your spare time could affect someone elses life.
Life is to live, serve and help, and you can have fun doing it.
Happy New Year to ALL

I teach MCC in a stati simulator on my days off or stby or "WL" days, for free, to Frozen Atpl or cadets that need to go for interview or need a refresh. We are a group of 10 pilots from various background helping out.
And we donate to the group to make the guys pay only 10 euros a hour each for the sim.
I couldnt think about anything else to do for somebody...
there are a lot of those guys around, go help them out...
D
Gataway in Sardinia i wish....

I dont believe comments such as yours are constructive, unless you are senior management and have some NEW news, but as it stands currently, there has been no mention of jobs being cut.
We all agree this is a serious time for all firms, including NJ, but I believe it to be irresponsible to infer and induce panic amongst NJ crews.
If you fear the worst, I suggest you email JB or RD and ask them directly what is happening and then post the facts, but leave opinions and rumours alone.

I agree we are many sat at home on stand by, but remember crew are fixed costs paid for in a 'management fee' by owners.
What I do question and would like you to elaborate on is this statement you made,
'I firmly believe that Netjets are about to announce some fairly unpalatable news.'
The floor is yours.

Sure clients pay for crews but what about when crews have been hired in prevision of more clients joining the programme.. And they didn't.
How about when clients terminate early their contract... Who pays for it then ?
.
What about Card holder. Do you think they pay anybody's salary if they don't fly or if they leave at the end of the 25 hours ?
Time to wake up and smell the coffee me think. It shouldn't take to be part of management to get thinking... Better be safe than sorry too and a bit of anticipation, hopefully wrong, will not hurt as much as none at all (from an employee's perspective, with bills to pay that is).

Hi relatives at NJE, you guys should think yourselves relatively lucky that you are at home when not flying.
We here at NJME are still on rotation and not doing much either. It took me 18 days of sitting around until my first flight this rotation, so missing Christmas (try explaining to a 3yo why you have to leave on the 24th) & New Years to come and sit over here in the sandpit.
Sitting in hotel (or vicinity there of ) on essentially a green stby for that long really burns the per diem I kid you not.
Thankfully NJ pilots can sniff out a bargain a mile away be it food, washing or internet access that 18 days sitting somewhere foreign are not too financially depletive.
I think we would all appreciate to be on the road and not sitting, but at least we still have jobs for now, unlike some others.

Just had a quick word with Lisbon about recruitment and...
Nothing ongoing for all 2009. How bad is that?
It's nice to have a job right now, even if it is not the one you dream for. How true.

I've just received an email from netjets saying that they won't hire pilots for the first half of 2009
In may 2008 they said that recruitment was on hold till september, in september they said it was on hold till the end of 2008. At the end of 2008 it was on hold till the beginning of 2009. Now they don't say anything anymore but they told you it was on hold untill the 2nd half of 2009.
I believe is that they will not recruite anymore untill at least 6 months after the point where the economy starts going again. This may occur in a few years.
My guess is that they will start recruiting in the 2nd half of 2011.
Mind you I have nothing to do with the company, just me speculating.
Those who complain that they don't fly a lot, be happy that you get paid well AND have a lot of free time, others have a lot of free time but have to manage with 1k€ or less. Better put some money aside in case of.

Well it is a rumour network.
Does anyone out there know exactly how long a bit of string is?
