It never existed, it is the
SEPTUMNC 2501.2 HIGH-ALTITUDE BOMBER http://discaircraft.greyfalcon.us/Ma...dy%20Bixby.htm and if I win its open house :) |
I apologise if I am wrong, but I had the understanding that the rule was that the object had to be real, in essence built and at least tried to get airborne by some brave individual. Have I misunderstood? If so, apologies.

NutLoose is right, so open house.

It sort of looked familiar, and after a little bit of research, I realized I had seen this helicopter before, at Farnborough, but it was naked!

Its power derives from a lot of hot air...
|
Far too much hot air comes from its namesake, none of which seems to provide any lift.

FWIW way back in 2017 I posted some other fantasy aircraft for the benefit of the late lamented Danny42C. My post can be seen here on PPRuNe: https://www.pprune.org/military-avia...ml#post9876640 A PS. If you want a good laugh see my Post#16 in the link above that reveals why the Soviet TURD U-14 (дерьмо U-14) Military Transport has a droop snoot! WT |
Not providing lift!
I suspect it is guilty of settling with power too. There are far too many there sufferibg from vortex ring, I fear. Along with hel(i)o-proctosis... |
Westland Westminster?
Westland "Westminster" helicopter - development history, photos, technical data Open house if correct. |
Whilst I was well aware of the Westland Westminster (Raymond Baxter's "Farnborough Commentary" was a Christmas present around 1980!), just looking at it on Wikipedia, I noticed reference to the paper project Westland W.90 of which I'd never heard - what a concept! Drawing on this site...
Videos of the Westminster... what might have been! |

Yes Noyade is correct
I thought it would last longer but I guess once seen , never forgotten! it was the survey version that bugged me - I REALLY am surprised I never came across it professionally https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....86ab02895a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....4302afa730.jpg |

Was he trying to catch the pigeon as it was overtaking? :)
|
Thats the question - do we have to ID the pigeon or the aircraft?

The only info I have on the carrier pigeon - is it's heading to Bletchley Park. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....8aa8597db5.jpg |
It was quite a modern pigeon for its days:
It took off with flaps extended. |
https://www.classicwarbirds.co.uk/ar...on-service.php
is good for ID-ing the pigeons - the aircraft is a little more difficult Is it a Vickers Virginal mk 1 |
I heard they modernised shortly afterwards and made the pigeons out of clay, I have to admit a machine gun is a bit OTT and not very sporting.

Well done Mel! I was familiar with the Stranraer because of the lovely example at Hendon but not heard of the London!

Ah! I knew someone who went there and had picture of this so I'll duck out I hadn't realised it had had such a long life!
