Not a RWD 13

sycamore 27th Apr 2024 10:50

Dripsy /Cirrus or Walter Micron engine..?

meleagertoo 27th Apr 2024 11:24

Neither.
Almost 400 of these were built.

Asturias56 27th Apr 2024 15:08

American?

Zaxis 27th Apr 2024 17:53

Menasco engine?

meleagertoo 27th Apr 2024 21:28

Neither American nor Menasco.
Most had 4cyl engine, a few variants (of which there were many) had 6cyl units.

India Four Two 27th Apr 2024 22:46

French?

Zaxis 28th Apr 2024 07:57

Italian, Alfa engine?

meleagertoo 28th Apr 2024 08:35

Let's just say it's European.
Nailing it down to a single country is too much of a giveaway.
Three different engine types were fitted across all variants.
The type had some export success both within and beyond Europe.

Asturias56 28th Apr 2024 08:46

Breda BA.15? tho I can't find a pic with that engine.............

Ombinda 28th Apr 2024 08:47

Saab?

BEagle 28th Apr 2024 09:13

Jeg tror det er en dansk KZ.III?

Danish KZ.111?

meleagertoo 28th Apr 2024 09:48

No, no and no!
Manufacturer was one of the great names in earliest aviation. A prolific designer.

Noyade 28th Apr 2024 11:29

I almost put that in but checked and they didn't build "hundreds"

meleagertoo 29th Apr 2024 08:43

It is indeed the Hanriot.
Noyade's turn.

Noyade 30th Apr 2024 00:20

Cheers.

Rules One, Two and Three.
Had an apprentice on the ramp for the first time a few years ago. I explained ramp safety including the above. He was, "yeh, yeh, yeh, whatever", and promptly walked through the prop arc.
He lasted about a week with us, sent him back to the hangar.

As to the photo, East European? (looking at the hats).

No Mel - but you are close. Think Post-Armistice...

meleagertoo 1st May 2024 10:48

Ah! You've cunningly hidden the middle wing! I thought the fuselage/top wing spacing was small for a MkV
It's the F10

Noyade 1st May 2024 23:38

And it's back to you Mel - yes indeed, the Hawa F.10 triplane Limousine.

Not a lot to see - but a very distinctive tail. Thinking you are still in Germany and that top right white area is a deployed emergency sail.
Take it away and it should look like this....

meleagertoo 2nd May 2024 14:13

Oh well, I thought that might have lasted like my previous wacky aircraft challenges, the flying submarine and the inflatoplane.
Crazy stuff!

Noyade 2nd May 2024 23:35

Cheers Mel - must be time to break the cycle and declare Open House.

Self loading bear 19th May 2024 08:28

An appropriate challenge for this thread which has been too quiet

Asturias56 19th May 2024 15:33

well I'd say it's a helicopter but that seems far too obvious with the Master posing a challenge..........................

BEagle 19th May 2024 16:07

Trendak Aviation Taurus gyroplane?

Self loading bear 19th May 2024 16:31

BEAgle is on the right track.

Noyade 19th May 2024 17:48

Trendak ZEN-1?

https://www.airplane-pictures.net/type.php?p=6996

Self loading bear 20th May 2024 10:01

Yes the Trendak Zen-1.
It later evolved into the Taurus but that doesn’t have the stepped bottom line of the window.
Over to you Noyade.

Noyade 20th May 2024 16:49

Thanks Bear - but I was just following on from BEagle. Please give control to him. Cheers!

Self loading bear 20th May 2024 18:03

BEagle please take the reins.

BEagle 20th May 2024 19:20

That's very kind of you, Noyade and Self loading bear!
