Rather handsome looking thing, American?
|
Is that a retractable undercarriage? This has resemblance of Comper Mouse, and I'd have the impression its early 30's european make?
|
I can't honestly tell you if the undercart retracts. Doesn't look like it?
This is a very rare machine from the land of wallabies and koalas. I only found one site which describes it - but with no photos. Powered by a six-cyl 200 hp Menasco Buccaneer engine. |
If it’s antipodean, Aussie pride demands a contribution.
The never completed Tugan Hawk C3? OH if so. |
I think CS might be on the right tracks, perhaps the Palcar TWA-4? If correct OH I’m afraid as nothing to hand.

Pypard has it right without hesitation. Over to you!

Was thinking a 'Crushed Custer' but no evidence of the channel wing, so more likely the Baumann Brigadier?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baumann_Brigadier |
Noyade has it: not a Crushed Custer but a Bandaged Brigadier. Over to you.
|
|
To me it looks like a Kiddy-Kopter Mk 1 with pine floorboards rotor blades. :ok:
Photo show a pilot being trained. |
ahhhhh - I've seen a picture of this years ago - but where?
|
Whats this, a Plywood Gazelle?
|
Tis another from the land of wombats and wallabies.
Construction started in 1960 and one site says it flew in 1970. Never registered. Powered by a Gypsy major engine. Ended its days as a rather fast (59mph) swamp boat. The designer also built a light aircraft in the 1930s, that was at one stage flown by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. |
More likely a GIpsy engine...!!!
|
The only helicopter I can find is the VTOL Aircraft Phillicopter in Oz at that period - but it isn't that

Ivchenko AI-20L or AI-20M turboprop? No idea who makes the propeller.
|
One of them Russian WIG thingies?
|
I was thinking of the A-90 Orlyonok - very similar fin top engine installation and tail planes but not identical. Hmmmm...
|
Engine is correct by Pypard, and Treadigraph is on the tracks.

Indeed, Alekseev SM-6, the base of which the Orlyonok was a further development. Your call, Noyade!

I'd never have got that in a million years :) and in any case I'm out and about at present, so open house!
|
No takers? OK, try this, I don't imagine it will last long as if I had heard of it... and no bonus points for the car!

Not quite Flipper although looks a bit like dolphin.
Oh yeah, and the car is not an E-type, it's XK-E :p |
Yes I can certainly see your sense of porpoise there...
