Beamr 20th Aug 2021 09:42

I'd say it was duramolded.

Honesty kid, you are pressure forcing it to your own hand.

It's not like i've impregnated anything. This is a spruce goose chase.

Noyade 21st Aug 2021 08:39

So many clues - but you need a name, so, the Fairchild F-46.
Seen below with a Pratt and Whitney up front - still flying in the early '70s...

No - it's Beamr's, with "Duramolded."

Beamr 22nd Aug 2021 14:46

Ok, to keep things going...

this is a bit later design, with a rather distinctive fuselage cross section shape. The continent is correct though.
It's almost like a C17: folks sitting on four rows and it can carry two general purpose vehicles that can be loaded via ramp. Very avanguardia!

Asturias56 23rd Aug 2021 08:04

I was thinking Noratlas but the roof is wrong - it's a damn wide fuselage - might be a glider - maybe something like the Me 323?

Noyade 23rd Aug 2021 09:03

Was it built and flown?
Is that a loud speaker - top right?

Beamr 23rd Aug 2021 09:10

I've no idea what that is top right. The one sample was never finished hence never flew.

Beamr 23rd Aug 2021 22:55

The troop carrier was never finished as Stalin was convinced that the two 18-cylinder radials this aircraft was designed to accommodate were much more needed in bombers. Its italian designer wasn't amused but hey, such is war. And Stalin wasn't the one you'd actually want to argue with. Much easier and healthier to go with the flow and work on ekranoplanes and such.

Must be Bartini - which makes this the T-117...?
Looks a tad like a wide-body Airspeed Ambassador.

Bartini T117 it is!
Rather advanced Russian (Italian) transport aircraft with pressurization, being widebody, having a ramp, high wing etc.

All yours Noyade.

sycamore 26th Aug 2021 20:06

Surely sablatnic is aware of the answer as well, so over to him/her, I'll have a handful on the cockpit thread.

Beamr 2nd Sep 2021 23:22

It's been an excessive amount of time, does anyone else feel like salabtnic's awol?
Should we declare OH to keep things going?

Asturias56 3rd Sep 2021 07:52

I think a week is long enough to and post something new, declare OH or to come up with an explanation of the delay

Has anyone PM'd him/her?

Beamr 3rd Sep 2021 08:47

I certainly have not pm'd. OH on my behalf, if anyone concurs.

Self loading bear 3rd Sep 2021 15:52

I concur OH

Asturias56 4th Sep 2021 19:47

Agreed - a week of silence is enough - give sablatnic a free shot when he /she wants

Noyade 6th Sep 2021 05:03

Another to look at...
