I need to set a stopwatch; both for the record time it takes you lot to get these and for the 24hr rule between posting and answering:}
Asturias56 is indeed correct. It's an American motor glider design dating from 1981. It used a VW(what else?) engine.It was destroyed in 1982 when it took off on a night flight and suffered engine failure and crashed into a hillside. History doesn't record the state of the pilot... Back to you Sir for something more challenging I suspect;) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....58c1c21c12.jpg |
That was a weird design - rather stuck inteh mind - laways thought it looked like a Bede creation TBH
watch the 24 hour rule - over on What airport it 's getting to the point that people will get banned Sorry I have to declare Open House |

As Asturias56 has declared open house and no-one has come up with anything, I'll slip this in to keep the ball rolling...
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....a0cff85634.jpg Again, this shouldn't be too taxing for the experts... I must add this design despite many efforts didn't actually make it into the air... |
On the phone I thought it may have been the A-12 Avenger mock-up.
But on the bigger monitor now - The Lippisch DM-1. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....e004b5ad43.jpg |
I'll give you that Noyade. There seems to be some debate as to how much involvement Lippisch had in the construction, but he was certainly involved in the design. There also seems to be some confusion as to the actual name, with the Germans listing it as a Akaflieg Darmstadt München(Hence the DM) DM-1, whereas the American designation appears to be a Lippisch DM-1.
Linkys here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lippisch_DM-1, https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akafli...t_München_DM-1. Open House again! |

Looks to be based on a Stits Playboy:confused:
|
No connection to Stits - other than it is from the US of A. He did use some components from a Vultee BT-13 Valiant.
It took him twenty two years of blood, sweat and tears to built it. |
Big clue there Noyade:}, although it didn't help...
Foster 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' N48F....Although I don't know why he bothered when it does look very similar to a Stits Playboy:confused: |
It is indeed Foster's 'headache' - well found. :ok:

Yes, not the easiest one to find any info on, and it was a case of trawling the list until I found the answer...I think I'd have lost the will to live if his name had started with 'S':}
Anyway, here's a quick one to keep things on the move... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....5996fa1df3.jpg |
Derived from a Mignet design?
|
Obviously didn't come with assembly instructions.:)
|
Not derived from anything remotely related to Mignet...Try a different continent;)
|
I don't think that thing ever flew?
Drag-no-fly? |
