Apologies - but this is all I have to offer... |
Looks like a light attack aircraft .................
|
Phrogfoot-Su-25...?
|
Doesn't look quite right - the cockpit edge by the pilots shoulder comes up higher on the Su-25 I think
|
How about a Pucara...?
|
Pucara was 2 seat I think and had a rising cockpit line with hooped stringers to hold the glazing........
It looks VERY industrial - and Russian to m Perhaps an Su-17? |
Well, there is a connection with the Su-25 - but not the Su-17.
Yes, Russian... |
Not the Il-102?
Now THAT was strange throwback.................. |

I'm sure the top brass weren't fooled - it was obviously a 1938 design dragged out and re engined - they'd probably been on a bender and forgot the submission date....................
I'm having trouble uploading an image - sticking at 90% loaded so OH |
Nice Challenge!
I looked at the Il-40 but not any further. I started searching “cockpit fuselage section” Then this came up closest to a cockpit with horizontal bar. Does anyone know what this one is? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....f30d32c15.jpeg |

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....227f8970ff.png Ilyushin went to great pains at the time to dispel any thought it was related to the Il-40... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....f556f96205.jpg We have Open House. |
Apologies not waiting for the confirmation from Noyade.
(I thought Beamr did the challenge) but my question about the other cockpit still stands. |
Venom NF,...? raised canopy bulge on pilot`s side
|
Lots of metal there - the Venom was mostly wood
|
The Vampire was mostly wood but I think the Venom was metal.
I'll go for a Sea Venom. |

I'll go for a Sea Venom. at first I thought a Vampire two seater to be most likely. But those have a double bubble. This morning I thought that Sycamore was correct with the Venom. But when searching for Sea Venom cockpits I just found this photo on Jetphotos: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....fd0a19c82.jpeg
You can see the whole plane under restoration On the left side the wooden cockpit section, the radar cone, the two tails, the wings and on the very right side the Ghost engine |
Sorry nothing ready at the moment so Open House.

Pity - 6 days in mid-summer isn't very long - I've been on the road and was looking forward to spending today leafing through various sources................

Blue panel and the famous “Mig” clock - Russian?
i like the two ejection seat handles - slow and fast? |
Think it may be back seat of a Mig-21ut..
|
Russian indeed but not a MiG
|
|
You sir are naughty, that's a Il-102 once more :D
|
close enough to 24 hours and I confess my sins...... I thought it was worth a try to repay all that searching under ""What Aircraft" ;)
Beamr has it with the Il-102 (again) |

A-1E Fat Face......
|
It certainly is EA-1E! Even though I tried to find a drawing of a less built version of the Skyraider with smoke and mirrors to make identification more difficult, I knew this wouldn't take long with the knowledge and experience on this forum (maybe even with some present who'd actually flown it). But I had to do it as for if there would be the opportunity to have a ride in one aircraft of choice, the Skyraider would be my choice. Take a big radial from a big bomber, sit on it and go flying low.
Sycamore, all yours. |

This is the real deal,A-1H/J. A good book is `My Secret War` by Richard Drury; A year in Thailand doing the biz, including night dive-bombing over Laos. Probably the greatest multi-role aircraft, about 25 ,..ever....! Sorry ,OPEN house... |
Thank you for the book hint, I'll look into it.
