BEagle 28th Apr 2024 09:05

meleagertoo 28th Apr 2024 09:49

Well?

BEagle 28th Apr 2024 11:12

KZ.111

meleagertoo 28th Apr 2024 11:21

Beagle's uncanny nose smells it out yet again!

Over...

BEagle 28th Apr 2024 12:33

sycamore 28th Apr 2024 20:00

Something from `Douglas`,.....Skyray...?

BEagle 28th Apr 2024 22:07

Not from Douglas!

sycamore 28th Apr 2024 23:19

Something from `Europe`/Scandi...?

BEagle 28th Apr 2024 23:28

European

D26 29th Apr 2024 07:17

Beware of the fiery breath!

Asturias56 29th Apr 2024 07:52

Y Draig Goch - the Red Dragon - or Saab J-35 Draken I'd guess

BEagle 29th Apr 2024 09:11

SAAB Draken it is! Asturias56, you have control!

Asturias56 30th Apr 2024 07:55

Thankyou - would never have got it except for the clew ...................

Try this - had several names/designations over its life - I'll accept anything reasonable

Ombinda 2nd May 2024 09:06

At first I thought Cirrus but hunting through "Cockpit side stick single engine" I now believe it is a Cessna 400?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_400

Asturias56 3rd May 2024 07:36

Well that didn't last long - yes the Columbia 300/Cessna400/CessnaTTx

Not a bad aircraft by all accounts but not as good as the Cirrus which took the lions share of the market

Over to Ombinda

Ombinda 3rd May 2024 07:54

Thanks A.

I suspect this one won't take too long either. Saw one flying for the 1st time the other day - was suitably impressed...

Asturias56 3rd May 2024 13:25

that blue point suggests it's Russian?

ea200 3rd May 2024 14:02

Looks a lot like an MI-24 back seat.

Because it is. Knew this one would be quick...
All yours.

ea200 4th May 2024 08:38

Thanks Ombinda. Don't suppose this will last long either:

BEagle 4th May 2024 10:28

Kawasaki Ki-45 Kai Hei Toryu (Dragon Killer).

ea200 5th May 2024 12:42

That's the one. Carelessly posted the whole picture rather than the crop I had intended.

Take it away BEagle

BEagle 5th May 2024 15:39

Thanks, ea200!

Here you go:

sycamore 5th May 2024 23:28

British,Euro,US...EXPERIMENTAL...?

BEagle 6th May 2024 07:55

One of those......

Ombinda 6th May 2024 10:35

Kind of looks like the Space Shuttle stick setup...

kenparry 6th May 2024 11:08

The instruments look to be American rather than British. 1950 ish?

sycamore 6th May 2024 14:07

Doesn`t seem to have an AI..some kind of VSTOL `WIZZER`,like the Ryan Vertijet...?

BEagle 6th May 2024 14:47

Not the Ryan Vertijet.

The AI is above the VSI and partially obscured by the V-shaped loop of fabric hangin down from the glareshield.

meleagertoo 6th May 2024 15:55

Whatever it is it looks crashed and subsequently unloved.
The stick arrangement suggests a FBW or boosted system as surely it is too short for a manual stick.
Dual RBI/RMI so needs navigation eqiopment. Possibly ILS or maybe Doppler (but deosn't look like a helo)
G meter and three-needle altimeter so high altitude capable
Twin I think.
Late '40s, early '50s?
Where's the throttle/s?

BEagle 6th May 2024 16:22

Several hundred of these existed! Long before FBW, it had powered controls though.

Single engine, throttle is just out of shot on the left side.

Asturias56 6th May 2024 16:24

USN? or USAF/USAF??

BEagle 6th May 2024 20:50

Perhaps......

sycamore 7th May 2024 00:45

The `T`-Bar` ,or throttle-grip for holding during cat .launches indicates its USN/USMC,but the pic doesn`t do justice to one of the best looking jets, even if `Old Henry`said `you can only have `em in black` ..the `Ford`/F4D Skyray..fastest carrier-borne jet,s-sonic in level flight, world altitude record holder ...at that time,...
Thought it may have been a pic of the FJ-3,another `classy` jet..

OH if correct.....

BEagle 7th May 2024 08:20

Correct, sycamore, it is indeed the cockpit of a Douglas F4D-1 Skyray!

You have control!

sycamore 7th May 2024 20:57

Sorry,bit late---OPEN HOUSE..

Asturias56 12th May 2024 14:33

ermmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Deja view :p or Senior moment?

you posted that as a challenge in late April - thread #4239 - some Danish aircraft IIRC

meleagertoo 12th May 2024 16:02

Senior moment then...I even did a search to check and it didn't come up!

Ok, back to open house.
