Noyade 6th Dec 2012 08:23

Yes mate, Japanese.

Blue_2 6th Dec 2012 14:47

Complete guess, be it a Kate?

Karlark 6th Dec 2012 16:53

Hayabusa/Oscar?

Noyade 6th Dec 2012 18:06

Complete guess
But a close one Blue.

Hi Karl!

USA?
Cockpit just cropped out at left? Or is that a wing mounted engine?

Karlark 7th Dec 2012 01:19

Yes and no :):

Correction: Yes, yes, no.

Why doesn't the quote function work for me on this website .

edit: Hey! now it does! :)

Noyade 7th Dec 2012 05:10

Thanks for the bigger image mate :)

Looking at the wing root I can't help but think the Vultee Vengeance, but the nacelle is wrong?
Is it an experimental engine insitu? Is it an attack (A) aircraft?

Lightning Mate 7th Dec 2012 08:09

Just for you Graeme.

Karlark 7th Dec 2012 12:27

:ok: :ok: to you both, it is the Vultee Vengeance Model 85 aka XA-31B.

I think either of you Noyade or Lightning Mate can take control if you have something and are still around.

Lightning Mate 7th Dec 2012 14:57

Noyade identified it, not me.

Karlark 7th Dec 2012 18:29

Noyade identified it
I guess it's on you Graeme :ok:

Noyade 7th Dec 2012 19:12

Thanks LM and Karl. :)

Noyade 8th Dec 2012 10:13

Impressive challenge mate! :)

Going in circles I think. Had a few French ideas, Tupolev, Convair and others.
Looks big.
Are the intakes positioned like Backfin?

Or has it possibly crashed-landed on the starboard side?

Karlark 8th Dec 2012 15:21

American manufacture and yes, the intakes are positioned similar to the Backfin. The aircraft is smaller, comparatively speaking.

Wonderful illustration :ok:
