Bristol Hercules, strapped to a Bristol Freighter?

one11 13th Nov 2012 14:33

Blue_2 has it. Welcome to the thread - just in case you have not worked out exactly how it works, you can now post your own challenge ( intake, engine, outlet) or , if nothing to post, declare Open House.

Blue_2 13th Nov 2012 14:44

Cheers. Give me a sec to find something to post; talk among yourselves! :)

Blue_2 13th Nov 2012 15:23

OK chaps and chapesses, I don't imagine this will be too taxing...

I just talk to myself. :)

Chatting to myself we've come to the conclusion that the airtake thingy does not lie (pink line) in the same direction as the reds lines (see below). They're more to do with the leading edge - we think.

Fuselage in the background?

You may both be onto something Noyade! :)

Noyade 14th Nov 2012 23:31

G'day Bluey!

Is there another one very close by? Possibly cropped from the shot? Oil cooler?

Victor....?

Handley Page Victor perhaps?

Blue_2 15th Nov 2012 10:19

Victor K2 oil cooler it is! Incidentally it's on our very own K.2 XL231.
Seeing as you (both!) said the V-word first Noyade, you have control...

Noyade 15th Nov 2012 19:13

Thanks Bluey.

CA Winjeel ,Bluey...OH if correct
Bluey and I congratulate you! Tis a Winjeel. Amazing what stepping back a few feet does to the challenge. Note the couple going hard at it in the background - very distracting to an aviation enthusiast! :)

Open House.

Second look, I was wrong, trick of the eyes - it's just a Mirage.....

That little logo says Pratt & Witney Aero Engines.

Maybe a Boeing F4B?

nacluv 17th Nov 2012 10:54

How about a Ford Trimotor 5AT?

Karlark 17th Nov 2012 14:47

Not a Boeing or Ford... is American, though:

Hi Karl.

The Bellanca CH-400 Skyrocket (at the Virginia Aviation Museum)?

Karlark 17th Nov 2012 23:32

Yes, that's the one Graeme. Bellanca Skyrocket dressed up as the Wright Bellanca WB-2 New York to Berlin aircraft. :ok:

Your control.
