I think you'll find the Connie is an EC-121/Warning Star.
True, but what would you call a formation of Warning Stars? A Constellation? :E

C2J,

You were much, much closer with your first guess.

Mitchell Field / Mitchell AFB, Garden City Long Island, NY.

1917 to 1961. Lots of aviation firsts here.

That is a direct hit on Mitchel Field.

Your bomb release. :ok:

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 11:49

Who would have thought you could operate a B-36, C-124, C-121 or some of those early jets out of a ~6000 foot long runway?

OK lets try this one...

Looking at the SD hat badge of the person in front of the 109. It looks RAF,

Are we in the UK ?

dook 6th Jun 2019 13:29

On second thoughts it might be USA.

JENKINS 6th Jun 2019 13:40

How about Wright Field in company with an Eastern DC3?

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 14:13

Not Wright Field. It is the USA.

C2j

dook 6th Jun 2019 14:34

New York State ?

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 14:49

No. Much closer to Wright Field than New York state. This was not a military field.

Might be California then.

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 15:01

Eastern didn't fly that far west. This airport was on Eastern's regular flight routing. Not so much the Me-109.

dook 6th Jun 2019 15:07

Georgia or Texas ?

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 15:12

Not Georgia or Texas. In its' early days, the airport was prone to flooding leading to a comically derogatory nick-name.

dook 6th Jun 2019 15:26

Tennessee ?

chevvron 6th Jun 2019 15:26

109 appears to be in Spanish markigs.

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 15:39

I believe the 109 is actually in British markings. dook, at the time the pic was taken, there were 48 states. You only have 43 more to go! Let's cut the odds and say this is east of the Mississippi river.

Here is another picture, I believe it was taken at the same time.

This airport is still in operation, though airline service has been shifted to a newer airport on the other side of the cause for flooding.

dook 6th Jun 2019 15:55

Alabama is prone to flooding - 42 to go !

Cubs2jets 6th Jun 2019 16:11

No, not Alabama. LOL!

Here is a little more meat to chew on (I think).
