Good spot but I'm not sure how it helps.

Porto Cheli Alexion,Greece......all pixelated on GE...OH if correct....

kaikohe76 14th Feb 2019 22:47

I would say you are right Sycamore. Apparently the airfield closed in 2004 due to maintenance issues & permanently closed in 2008. Does look a rather nice spot too.

ea200 14th Feb 2019 22:58

I looked at that and thought it promising, but gave up due to the pixellation and other strange GE effects around there. However, if you go on the coastline then it is a strong contender. I would bet on sycamore being correct. SLB?

Sycamore is completely correct.
This was one of the challenges where Google earth cannot give the Final closure.
But plenty of photos on the internet.
The clue was in the first post.
In Philips Kerr novel it is called Porto Heli.

Nice novel with anti-Hero Berny Gunther, the ex-SD war criminal trying to make up for his wrong doings.
Definitely gonna read some more in the series.

OH called

Strange how GE pixilate it, but when you select the historical view, they don't.

As no-one has jumped in overnight, here is the mystery aerodrome I had lined up a couple of days ago

nvubu 15th Feb 2019 09:52

Not Fat East. Not sure what SW means (but I don't think it is there either :) )

Are they the Kings African Rifles or similar?

Kenya?

nvubu 15th Feb 2019 11:55

Similar - I think probably Police, and not Kenya.

This should point you in the direction of the year
