California or Nevada?

Mark 1 2nd May 2014 02:29

Yes. Getting closer

evansb 3rd May 2014 01:49

Borrego Valley, (KL08), California. Located just west of The Salton Sea.

Borrego Valley, (KL08), California. Located just west of The Salton Sea
is correct.
About the only airport in that region above sea level. Salton Sea is just out of shot to the right.

Over to you.

Thank you. Here is the next mystery aerodrome:

El Arish, Gaza.

evansb 3rd May 2014 07:21

Yes, El Arish Marina, Gaza, circa 1967 after Egypt's departure. Two UN DHC-4 Caribous operated by The RCAF are shown. I wonder if the white spheres are made of salt, given the proximity of the aerodrome to a salt lake. You have control.

John Hill 3rd May 2014 10:10

Open House I am afraid!

evansb 3rd May 2014 22:11

albatross 4th May 2014 04:11

RCAF Marville, France?
OH if correct.

G-ARZG 4th May 2014 12:30

Memphis TN, some 14 miles from BB King's...

India Four Two 4th May 2014 13:52

bri, great picture. Tigers as far as the eye can see! Back when Canada had a real airforce.

I did some research and I see that Canadair built 1815 and over 1000 of those served with the RCAF!

Memphis TN, some 14 miles from BB King's...
Yes and I feel like an idiot. I knew that place looked familiar, I landed there so many times I lost count. :\

evansb 5th May 2014 20:37

Jenkins is correct. North Luffenham. He has control. Very sorry for the massive delay in responding.

CORRECTION: It has been pointed out to me that the photo of the RCAF Sabres is not North Luffenham, UK. It is most probably Uplands, (Ottawa), Ontario. The aircraft are Canadair Sabres of RCAF 439 Squadron preparing to depart on Operation Leapfrog, crossing the North Atlantic for deployment at North Luffenham. I regret any confusion my error may have caused.
