chevvron 19th Jun 2013 23:32

But it is England?

cuefaye 20th Jun 2013 08:57

Indeed it is chev --

That rules out Oran La Senia mid-1943 then .... :) ..... LFH

chevvron 20th Jun 2013 10:11

Unusual hangar layout for a 'typical' RAF airfield; vague similarity to Shawbury but I'm sure it's not.

cuefaye 20th Jun 2013 11:16

Not Shawbury, not RAF

Phileas Fogg 20th Jun 2013 11:40

Seems to be flat terrain, how about Eastern England, Lincolnshire, East Anglia?

chevvron 20th Jun 2013 13:01

9th Air Force?

cuefaye 20th Jun 2013 14:18

Not Eastern, not the 9th AF

Lightning Mate 20th Jun 2013 14:28

Southern England?

grollie 20th Jun 2013 14:48

Warton Airfield?

chevvron 20th Jun 2013 15:20

I think you're right grollie.

flyingwing 20th Jun 2013 16:18

Holmsley South or Beaulieu?

TheChitterneFlyer 20th Jun 2013 18:00

I reckon grollie is spot-on!

cuefaye 20th Jun 2013 19:01

grollie

Well done! WW2 at Warton. The photo was scanned from the book - The World's Greatest Air Depot; and there at the time the photo was taken was a multitude of kit, mainly US, and a plethora of gliders

Well you take it as its a job on am iPhone to doctor images. I only do it for the fun and challenge. I got Warton only because I have it on Fs2004

Lightning Mate 21st Jun 2013 07:25

Don't understand your last post above..............

grollie 21st Jun 2013 08:23

When on our conversation earlier i was just saying how I found out the airfield. I have airfields addon on Fs2004 which is very detailed rather than trying to match up on Google? I'd remembered the layout from doing flights around RAF Woodvale. I will read up on your pm when finished work thanks

RAF Wellesbourne Mountford, still active as a civilian airfield now I believe.
