Boss Raptor 2nd Nov 2012 09:15

RAF Hal Far - Malta

if so open house

Lordflasheart 2nd Nov 2012 10:55

Halfar it is Boss R - Well done. Channel Air Division excursion in 1954.

But for calling it "RAF" we might have had you walking the plank** RNAS Halfar aka HMS Falcon - now an industrial estate.

** Sentence suspended on account of friendly fire. I see the HMS Vengeance Association website section on Halfar shows a 1945 photo of Halfar that looks rather more like Luqa. See here - falcon

I will double check and take it up with them. FF is bad for morale.

Boss Raptor has declared Open House. LFH

Haven't posted/played here for a long time.
Here's something which might cause a bit of entertainment as long as you stay away from Google images. I have a decent clue I can deploy if it gets stuck.

The SSK 2nd Nov 2012 16:09

Ah well, so much for entertainment.
I can't monitor this thread regularly from now on so I'll present my clue and bow out, it (the clue, not the aerodrome)is to be found in the recent pages of 'Where on earth?'

Failing that, stick the URL into Google Images.

Have a good weekend all.

Is there anything notably historic or nostalgic about this airport? Just asking, no agenda, hidden or otherwise.

chevvron 3rd Nov 2012 17:34

You mean like Crazies Hill? (tongue in cheek!)

evansb 4th Nov 2012 00:16

Where did it go? I initially thought it was Kill Devil Hills airport in North Carolina.
An historic site to be sure.

nvubu 4th Nov 2012 09:20

The last few replies are going to be confusing for other readers

Which airfield is being dedicated/opened here?

Here's the view the other way.

I'll post a couple of images of the airfield in action if more clues are needed.

albatross 4th Nov 2012 14:49

RAF Polebrook? 351st Bombardment group USAAF?
Open house if correct which I probably am not.

chevvron 4th Nov 2012 15:24

Chelveston?

nvubu 4th Nov 2012 15:47

It's not Polebrook or Chelveston.
