It is from Czechoslovakia, but not the Z26/226/326/526/726 Series Trener family. It is not a Praga.

Planegill's challenge..

I'm thinking the Praga BH-111.....

paulc 3rd Mar 2008 06:14

Sokol / Meta Sokol series?

mustpost 3rd Mar 2008 07:21

Beneš-Mráz Be-51?

Planegill 3rd Mar 2008 09:14

Not the Be51, or the Meta Sokol. I think it was a pre-war aircraft.

mustpost 3rd Mar 2008 09:20

If it’s not the Be-51, then I guess it might be a trick q. Is it an enclosed Klemm 35B built at the Zlin factory after ‘39 – like this one?

No it's not, stupid me
It's the 1935 Zlin Z-Xll

mustpost. I would say that your change of mind will prove to be a wise move.

Planegill's challenge -Zlin

But as Winston would say about your pic - this time with the "NAAAZZIS" in it..
No offence intended for the PC brigade, just repeating a very, very old broadcast.
Fascinating how the 3rd used so much of Czech aero technology and production...I had a flying model of the Klemm as a ..oh well, that was then etc
Hope I'm right tho'

Mike

Hi Mike. 100% correct, it is the Zlin XII. Well done.

Thanks, Planegill, that was a tough one.
A bit more up to date now, and bonus points if you know the features which set this a/c apart from its stablemates..
It's probably quite easy if you know your stuff..

Kitbag 4th Mar 2008 07:59

Looks like a Kamov Ka50 helicopter with ejection seats.

mustpost 4th Mar 2008 08:21

There! I knew you would find it easy. Kamov Ka-50, with contra-rotating co-axial rotor system - but 1 ejection seat for 1 pilot...unusual for gunship not to have two crew. Apparently explosive charges blow the rotor blades away before the hatch is jettisoned and our man goes for an interesting ride - even at zero feet(!) It's said to improve morale...

The floor is yours, well done!

Kitbag 4th Mar 2008 08:53

TVM. Wrong place to post a challenge so the floor is open.

stevef 4th Mar 2008 16:54

Something makes me think Taylorcraft...

Fitter2 4th Mar 2008 18:06

There's a good reason you might think that Steve, but not a Taylorcraft, or indeed from the USA.

Kitbag 4th Mar 2008 19:57

Just been playing about with the image and the placards look as though they are cyrillic. Is this from the eastern side of the Iron Curtain?

mustpost 4th Mar 2008 20:11

Made of acry(l)lic? :}

Ps why do I get the one day cabin crew ad on my post (quite a lot??)
Don't answer that plse

norwich 4th Mar 2008 20:14

Sticking my neck out further than my knowledge should allow me, I will go with Piper J2 Cub ?????? Keith.

Fitter2 4th Mar 2008 20:45

Not eastern European . And not a Piper Cub (although like the Taylorcraft there is a reason for some similarity). Hasn't the Cub been done before?
