682al's Challenge

Judging by the position of the compass, it looks like a British twin engine aircraft 1940s. How about the Gloster F9/37?

682al 28th Feb 2008 15:59

Sorry both, it's not a British type.

Kitbag 28th Feb 2008 16:09

Offset control column and yoke puts one in mind of a P38, perhaps (to account for the compass installation) one of the batch of P38Ds without the rather essential superchargers that went to the RAF (who gave the aircraft its popular name I think). Course I have been wrong twice already today so ...

682al 28th Feb 2008 16:45

...so that makes it a third! (Sorry)

You are on the right lines though.

Martin Maryland perhaps?

Kitbag 28th Feb 2008 17:13

Not a fighter then, Martin Maryland?

I agree with the one above!

682al 28th Feb 2008 17:25

You're almost there...

I am sure kitbag is thinking the same, the Martin Baltimore perhaps?

Kitbag 28th Feb 2008 17:44

Martin Baltimore (yes I am just guessing)

Doh:ugh:

Kitbag 28th Feb 2008 17:54

No, no 'tis yours kind sir!

(besides I haven'tgot anything to put up:})

682al 28th Feb 2008 17:55

Both correct of course.

An interesting aeroplane, about which I've read very little, except for the Pilot's handbook which is where the illustration comes from.

Thanks 682al, a good challenge. Like you I too knew little about this aircraft, some interesting information on the aircraft here:-

Oops, we're in trouble now he forgot to add:

I am sure this next one will be no problem.

Any little Frenchman involved in the design?

Kitbag. Well, knowing the experts we have out there I thought that the comment would be unnecessary :).

Yes a frenchman did have an influence in the design of this aircraft.

Mel's Challenge

Not the Piel Emeraude.

BSD 29th Feb 2008 06:47

Good grief, is it not the mighty Condor? If it is, I didn't know of a French connection.

Cheers,

BSD.

Originally designed in 1956 by Roger Druine.. I think you have it sir...

BSD 29th Feb 2008 07:23

Mustpost,

Druine, of course! If it is the Condor, I can't believe it hasn't been done already.

Still haven't got anything suitable to post, the few I have available have already been posted.

Open house if I've got it.

BSD.
