North American XB70 ?
|
Boeing XB-70 Valkyrie.
Henry beat me to it! |
How about an Antonov 225?
edit - err, the special 'Valkyrie' model? |
Correct, henry!
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...lastflight.jpg Seen here on its last flight - only 10 years after the last flight of the B-36! |
|
Is it a Catalina?
|
No, not a Cat.
Hmm, did I break any protocol as I did not win the last one? Sorry if so. |
Grumman HU-16 Albatross!
|
Spot on BEags, leave all that mucky engine handling stuff to the Chief Stoker, eh?
|
I guessed it was an amphibian, as it probably had overhead throttles. A quick Google and that was it!
OK - http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/nw969/c2.jpg |
US built, tandem seat, twin engined fighter, late 50's early 60' vintage - but I think we'll need more than that
|
...not very wide, lot of dials...hmm :8
|
Not American,
Not tandem seating, ....but otherwise not far off the mark! |
Sea Vixen maybe?
Clint |
Javelin - no tandem seating??
|
One of you is correct. But more confidence or proof is needed!
|
BEags.
I have consulted my 'Boys Bumper Book of Twin Engined Jet Planes circa 1950/60' and am confident to claim a Sea Vixen ! Clint. |
I'll concede - DE HAVILLAND SEA VIXEN:ok:
If I'd taken more notice of the Attitude Indicator in the first place I'd have said Brit rather than US. Definitely a Smiths job. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...72sideview.gif |
Yes - 'tis indeed the mighty 'Vixen!
Over to you, Mr_G! |
When I first started this thread it was because a friend and I were bouncing pictures back and forth to each other trying to outdo each other. I got stuck with the C 46, hence the post on PPRuNe.
I had no idea it would capture all our imaginations like this. Let’s keep it going, Over to someone else for the next pic. Clint. |
