Is the island you're talking about Coode Island or Australia? I recognize this one, it's Fisherman's Bend.

While we have an Open House, I'll post this picture that I grabbed from a video on Wellingtons:
What intrigued me was the DC-2 in the background, with USAAF markings. Does anyone know where this photo was taken?

I've just done an image search, which of course is what I should've done in the first place, if I hadn't been so lazy!
I found the same picture at this site:

The caption is:

teusje, my apologies. As Slb stated, you have control.
neat and tidy = N America perhaps?
Damn! got up too late... I was done for speeding on that road - there's a hidden radar camera just about on the right hand side of the picture
Its also worth remembering that the airport was a bay until the great earthquake in the '20's - came up several metres

I've also driven that road, but more sedately than Asturias!
Visible in that picture, if you know where to look, is the interestingly named Crab Farm Winery.
After the earthquake, much of Napier was rebuilt in the then fashionable Art Deco style. It is second only to Miami Beach for its surviving Art Deco buildings.

Crab Farm Winery was established in the early 1980’s with the first vintage under the Crab Farm Winery label released in 1987. The land at Crab Farm has been in the Jardine family for over 100 years. Originally purchased without viewing beforehand – Hamish Jardine’s great grandfather was alarmed to find his new land was actually partially underwater. With tidal pools, rushes and hundreds of Crabs, the family jokingly named it ‘Crab Farm’.
After the 1931 earthquake in Napier the land where the winery and vineyard are located was raised over 2 metres. Hamish Jardine, owner and winemaker and his father Jim Jardine planted the vines at the home block at Crab Farm.

Here's one to try.....
Not the busiest airport in the world....... tho I have seen the military use it for helicopter movements
