Which Aerodrome Mk IV
Thread Starter
Not Hokie (as the local folk would have it) Lauriebe.
Definitely time for a clue: The runway is / was too short to permit Viscount services, and at a nearby art gallery one keeps thinking of Wuthering Heights (and getting sloshed on Pinot Noir of course - this is NZ!).

Could it be Nelson Airport? Quite a short runway there.
It also seems to be in a pinot noir area and, after looking around the interweb, there is a Bronte Gallery nearby.
Forgot to add OH if correct.

NZNS Nelson it is. Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson and 1st Duke of Bronte.
The apron and terminal have been substantially reconfigured since this photo was taken in 1970. I'm not sure if the attractive white park bench on the left of the shot was the business lounge or not...
OH declared.

Ross Smith Drive in Parap, Darwin.
Was the original runway in Darwin before the current airfield was constructed.
There is a windsock in a little park at the South East end.
OH as I cant get at any of my pics at present.

It’s Ross Smith Avenue, rather than Drive. But you’re right with all the rest. Probably the only aerodrome I had a chance of identifying.
The old Qantas hangar is still in position but used as a motor museum.

And here is a picture of the good old days..
Many years ago I was walking to the Parap Markets for breakfast (a known hangover cure in those days) by a (then) young friend with whom I had imbibed the evening before. As we walked along the road I looked up and saw the old hangar medivac and realised we were walking along an old runway.. One of many fond memories of Darwin from the 1980's.
CC has it and has declared Open House.

Joint civilian military - internal flights year round, some seasonal international traffic
