Apart from thinking there was a slightly tenuously passing resemblance to a Gipsy engined Monocoupe (of which I suspect there were none, particularly with that undercarriage arrangement ), I had no idea at all...

Not as such - it's a wing root intake that causes the effect I think

Having avoided the wrath of the mods by waiting I confirm it's a Banshee - an RCN one. The original picture was one under maintenance at Faireys Canada in the '50's. It remains the only jet fighter operated by the RCN. Over to meleagertoo

I've served TWO short bans (well one was a month) for posting that someone had the correct answer to a challenge I put up without ME waiting-24 hours. IIRC one was on Christmas Day.
Anyone can interpret the rules as they like but now I wait 24 hours to confirm. It's not a major problem TBH
