Which Aerodrome Mk III
chevvron,
I think the photo was taken from this location:
1°11'1.41"S 136° 5'56.93"E
By the way, does anyone have any idea what the derelict aircraft is?
In view of the thread drift, a reminder that it is OPEN HOUSE.

chevvron,
I've just looked at the oldest available image on GE (4 May 2002), where the derelict still has a tail.
From the shadows, it is a tail-dragger and the dimensions (~80' x ~40') plus the constant-chord high aspect-ratio wing, make me think it is a Twin Pioneer.

So would that be the Libyan Desert? Idris?
oldpax,
Thanks. I happened to be reading the "Queen of Tarhuna" Canberra thread and made what turned out to be an inspired guess!
Open House.

Jebel Tarik?
Definitely looks like RAF North Front to me; pic taken from an upper floor in the Officers Mess looking towards the airfield; those masts in the background belong to the Navy; Rock just out of pic (cropped?) at the right.
