I took the photo from the Sqn Histories on Rafweb.org.
The complete text: Two Meteor 10s at Juba (Southern Sudan) on 1st April 1955, en route to Mombassa. Flown by Fg Offs Denny Beard and Dave Pownall. (photo by Sqn Ldr David Pownall)

95i,
Are you sure your booklet isn't "The Canberra in the RAAF"?
RAAF Canberra low-flying along a taxi-way at Biak, Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

Ancientaviator62,
Please consider deleting your post. The convention here is that only one picture at a time is "in play" and new ones are posted by the person who successfully identifies the aerodrome. If Open House is declared, then anyone may post a new aerodrome.
95i,
My RAAF riposte was tongue-in-cheek. However, I'm pretty sure it's an RAAF Canberra and I'm sure it's Biak. You can see the hangars on Google Earth.

Apologies if I have offended against the rules. But I saw 'open house' a few posts ago but by the time I posted I had been overtaken by events. Rest assured the post will be deleted.

It is quite understandable that anyone who has joined this thread since it started in November 2002 might not have seen the rules. Therefore I have copied them below;
- A historic picture of an aerodrome will be posted. Newer pictures are allowed but the theme here is to compare/contrast old with new as well as identifying aerodromes which no longer exist.
- The person who correctly idenitifies it will be declared the 'winner' by the original poster.
- That winner shall either post another challenge or declare the floor open. Anyone may then post the next challenge.
- There will only be one challenge running at a time.
Dave
The last few posts have been rather confusing. To keep the thread going I suggest that India Four Two has control.

Dave,
In that case, I'll declare Open House.
PS I've finally found the reference I was looking for:
http://canberratalk.conforums.com/in...num=1372844180
2 Sqn RAAF, Biak 77-78
There's another great shot of a low-flying Argentinian B62 in the same link
