The Besson MB.26 appears to fit the bill? The photo in Aviafrance (and the only one I have found) lacks the ventral fin though.

A'rtnoon Ken,

On my lunch break now; no Internet at home last night

I'll second your answer; there's a picture with the fin here
Sorry, It won't work as a pasted link

Forget the link I'll post the piccie

Edit: Removed link as it doesn't work!!

Here's the picture on that cranky site, where it's captioned as a Besson MB.26

Thanks Trevor....apologies for the delay but work took priority this afternoon and have only just had a chance to log on.

I'm sure Graeme would be happy for us to move on, so here's the next one:

Evening Ken,

apologies for the delay but work took priority this afternoon
Same here mate, shocking innit !!

Home now and I seem to have a connection of sorts at the moment, dunno if it'll hold up though, it didn't last night

Is your latest a motor-glider ?

Some aspects of it look like a Schweizer, but the U/C looks heavier on yours and the tail has no fillet, so maybe the SA2-37B model ?

Evening all
Just catching up as work has been keeping me busy this evening.
- not a Schweizer
- not a YO-3
and not from the US...its European.
Not a motorglider although the designer of this aircraft did put his name to a number of gliders.

Edit to say closing down now. Good night.

Usual rules apply

Graeme, not a kit plane, but a one-off. 1960's design. Still flying today.

Good call with the Besson
Thanks mate. Not sure I would have found it without the clues though. Even when I did I looked long and hard as the angle of the photo made it appear much squatter than it is...not to mention the lack of the ventral fin!

Thanks Ken. I must lead a sad life when I yell "that's it!" when I found it.
Lazy Sunday morning here, clear skies and expecting a top of 31 deg.C.

Next...

You're not the only one

So what are we looking at, American? Single or 2 seats? Early 30's?.

American.
Single-seat.
1930s as you say.

Very distinctive elliptical wings - some say "butterfly" shaped.
