Not Dakar. Would have been more accurate to say South West from Tangier.
The airport is currently undertaking a major expansion programme up to A380 capability.

Not Reunion - but if that Air France A380 ever gets to fly from Paris it will involve two over-water stretches..........

Despite my geographical disorientation Descol has it. Ivato airport , Antananarivo , Madagascar - it would probably have still been Tananarive when the Institute Geographique National air survey B-17 was there.

Descol has control

Cheers Doug

Seacue, One 11 got it - 2 hours before you - maybe next time !
Yes, it's Washington Hoover.
The Hoover part - Washington's first commercial airport opened in 1926.
The Washington part, across the road opened in 1927.
In the 30's both merged and developed strealined Art Deco buildings -including a swiming pool !
Its life was limited - sod runways - no expansion possibilities etc.
By 1949 it was gone - .
All yours seacue or one 11- if you don't have anything presently
Des

Washington-Hoover was closed immediately after Washington National KDCA opened less than one mile south of it in June 1941. The Pentagon was built in 21 months where Washington Hoover had been located. Construction of the Pentagon started in September 1941.

I think you will find that the swimming pool was a completely separate operation.

In my early youth, I'd get my parents to park on a little hill south/SE of Hoover Field so I could watch the planes. The only type I can remember is the Pennsylvania Central Airlines DC-2. Too bad I can't remember the older types. Oops, I just admitted how old I am.

Vientiane, on the basis that Laos was a protectorate rather than a colony?
