Would Fokker C.V. have counted, because according to my source, Weiss built his Solyom from a Fokker C.V. which he built under license and modified one to become known as WM 21?
I know, I know: Moot point because I did not figure that out in time....

Not really, but it would have got a response/clue which would have led you to the challenge very quickly.

Then the sun is coming my way.

Is this aeroplane Russian?

...and is that a nosewheel or some kind of armament?

Not Russian.

Looking at another image (on the net) it looks like a large pitot tube.

Sorry, missed that post. Three-seat reconnaissance and attack aircraft.

Googling the clue sentence "Three-seat reconnaissance and attack aircraft" and 'Pictures', gives as the second return:

Aarne-Malmson AM.315. So be it.

Edit: Just be brave and scroll down.....

I WAS JOKING: Potez-630 Edit: Or 63

Potez 630/631 - fighter, fighter-bomber
