Good call Graeme

All UK airspace is closed until 1700 GMT because of ash from a rather large eruption in Iceland.

You have control.

Can't see it John.

Looking at the wing and intake positions this one is going to be a bit of a bugger.

Graeme wouldn't give us an easy one........

Fuselage and wings are from a BD-5 but it was a twin-boomer...

Acapella
Your control teusje!

An unusual adaptation of the BD-5, the Acapella 100, appeared in the early 1980s. Designer Carl D. Barlow of Option Air Reno mated a BD-5 fuselage with a distinctive twin-boom empennage and fitted it with a 100 hp Continental O-200 engine. Later, a 200 hp Lycoming IO-360 was fitted, and the wings shortened from 26.5 feet to 19.5 feet, becoming the Acapella 200-S model. The prototype of this aircraft was first flown on June 6, 1980, with pilot Bill Skiliar at the controls. Unfortunately, it flew poorly and was difficult to control. Only the one prototype was built and it was donated to the Experimental Aircraft Association's Airventure Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA, where it is occasionally placed on display

Good evening Graeme,

Seeing that USAF markings lurking in the shadows, I wonder could it be the modifications made to the bomb-bay area of the B-29 or B-50 to carry the Bell X-1 ?

Afternoon sinco and sycamore. Flying-boat/amphibian conversion incorporating a new hull design...but not Convair.

In that case, how about a Catalina ?

Got to get back to work now, so Open House please if it is!

That new wider view completely turns what I was "seeing" inside-out; what is a now a prop's blur, I thought was a wrinkle in some skin against an aerofoil shaped cutout. DOH!!!

Unfortunately no more time to pursue it now!

Say Happy Birthday to LM if he shows up (probably out partying)

Tell me about it. If you go back to one11's Stout image, I'd swear on a stack of bibles that the bloke that looked like Trotsky was standing in the world's largest wheel spat somewhere between the second or third engine on the starboard side of an extremely large aircraft. DOH!!!
